Trid_Kicker: Fade2black: I for one, am shocked, that there could possibly be an overweight, lazy, government employee out there.

I don't know; I've seen enough American Greed to not have much faith in the private sector anymore either.

And I personally think pensions are great.  All of America should rue their disappearance.  As it is now, most of us will have to work long into our golden years.  What drives people to scoff and attempt to ridicule workers who have pensions, I can't figure out.  Jealousy probably.

This.

Anyone who thinks Teh Gubmint is evil and private sector and market correction can do no wrong needs to watch this show for a few weeks. Then you will be really happy the SEC and IRS is out there.

AlanSmithee: khyberkitsune: Welcome to FARK.

Good work, and thanks!

I used to do a lot of marketing. This video was pretty obvious even before I went to the full youtube page to look into it some more.

Anybody with a drivers license and a lick of common sense would have not done that in a mail vehicle, in spite of a 'Do Not Reverse' policy (oh, hey, yes, some corporate vehicles come with that caveat as well. Sucks to drive them but sometimes you have to.)
B. The video is so instantly WTF-inducing and attention-getting. Too much so.

All it took was following the trail to get confirmation.

Well in West Allis, WI the rude nasty little letter carrying hobags just throw people's mail in the snow (or grass, or wherever it happens to land) anyways, so might as well park on the grass as well.

/Glad I moved out of that dumpy city
//Worst post office EVAR!

Trid_Kicker: Ker_Thwap: Not a chance in hell she's fired or even remotely seriously disciplined.  Thanks unions.

Why should she be fired for this?  Then the PO is without a worker; they have to hire someone else, train them, etc. -- meanwhile the rest of the employees have to take up the slack, etc.  All for this?  She should be (can't say she will but it IS likely) will receive some sort of reprimand/warning etc.  And rightly so.

It's amazing how fast the (right-leaning) public is to call out "FIRE PEOPLE" at every transgression.  Most employees will bend the rules at one time or another -- public and private.  It just happens; it's what people do.  (Ever leave your job early and have someone "cover" for you? etc.)  While not justifiable, it is ultimately a cost of doing business and that has to be weighed against the seriousness of the transgression vs. having to fire and rehire and retrain and for all that the new hire could be WORSE!

Most likely, now that she is aware that houses have video, she may be less likely to repeat this kind of thing.

//IMHO YMMV
//Let he without sin throw the first stone etc...

Waaay too reasoned and sensible for Fark,  or any other Internet forum for that matter.

I'm not jealous at all.  I retire in 5 years because of a trust handed down by my grandparents, so you can commence your hate as you wish.  I don't mind pensions at all...when they're privately funded.  Taxpayer funded pensions are where I have problems.  Especially for lazy shiatbags like this woman is showing herself to be.

"Taxpayer funded pensions are where I have problems. "

really? really?  "Taxpayer funded" and the "post office" don't even belong in the same paragraph. Unless you are saying "the Post Office is not taxpayer funded at all"

Snarfangel: kombi: I do not defend the mail carrier. i had a friend that was a mail carrier. They are really pushed for time. They have quotas on how long there route should take. Sometimes unreasonable time. But this carrier was an idiot.

If the homeowner didn't like it, why did they put a lawn right where the postal carrier was driving?

Typical careless lawn, it jumped right out in front of her when she was driving.

No one needs mail.

ZeroCorpse: And just think... That lazy fatass who doesn't care about your lawn is making a VERY nice salary and has fantastic benefits.

Lawn?

How about sewage lines? Idiots never think about that.

That was my first thought, there's a part of my lawn that cannot be driven over unless I want a damaged septic tank.

Fade2black:  Taxpayer funded pensions are where I have problems.

So where do you stand on the tax payer funded pensions of those that honorably served in the military for 20 or more years? Would you begrudge them their stipend for the service and sacrifice that they made?

/of course we wouldn't need such a large military if we didn't constantly elect warmongers into office
//but that's a different discussion

Since this postal worker wasn't wearing the easily recognizable postal uniform, she was most likely a part-time flex (temp worker).  Therefore, she wouldn't be in the NALC (National Association of Letter Carriers Union) and would be fired immediately if her supervisor saw the video.

2013-10-06 11:15:18 AM
No uniform indicates she is either  full time Rural Carrier or a part time rural substitute (RCA). My money would be on an RCA (who probably wants to be fired because they are tired of waiting for a full time spot) because a full timer has worked too had and waited too long for their position to piss away their job on something this ridiculous. Either one is eligible to be part of the NALC, but given that she broke SO MANY rules I doubt the union would bother trying to defend her. There is no audio, but based on her movements and the timing it doesn't look like she cut the engine before she dismounted. That is an automatic termination no matter who you are. add in the No Backing rules, no seat belt, and driving on the damn lawn... wow

This video is circulating the post office as of yesterday or the day before and you bet they are investigating. If the house owner contacted either the post master or the Postal Inspectors then this story would be done already.
