Leno tries very hard to make "jokes" at both sides equally, his wife is major supporter of the Feminist Majority Foundation, not exactly a right wing group, so while I don't know his politics I would guess he leans pretty far left, unless you are going to try and outlaw his cars.

Let's cut to the chase. Clueless politicians compete for baseless votes cast by uninformed citizens for frightenly irrational reasons. Our moral standards are so low and our intellectual field so barren, that if John Wayne Gacy arose from the dead tomorrow, he could put on his clown suit, hire Roger Arows, and get enough name recognition votes in New Hampshire to knock Dick Lugar out of the race. And then Dick Lugar could drop his alias, re-enter the real world, and go back to his given name, Cock Barreta! ...

Hey, if you look hard enough, you're gonna find reason enough not to elect anyone. Bob Dornan is so insane, he actually undersells Crazy Eddy. Pat Buchanan? Okay, forget the fact that his chief aid keeps Hitler's missing testicle in his inside coat pocket. On his own, Buchanan is further to the right than a bicyclist on the Autobahn. (Pat Buchanan is a registered trademark of the National Rifle Association and cannot be used without direct express written consent.) ... Lamar Alexander is about a month and a half away from playing Norm to Jimmy Carter's Bob Villa. At least Alexander is insightful enough to realize that the current American electors are such a chronic droolers that they would vote for a farking shirt! Bob Dole? I don't know if I wanna president who is congratulated on his birthday by Willard Scott. And finally, how can I vote for Dick Lugar when he doesn't have the courage to use his real name, Schlong Uzi?!

Independent Journalism has been driven into the ground now that the FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: crowd finally got tired of AOL and realized they can post their vicious yet fact-deficient commentary under the guise of "journalism" for both attention AND money.

Its one saving grace is that unlike MSNBC or the Murdoch Deathstar you can call them out easier and engage in dialog with them on social media.

"You can see the effects [of the shutdown]. President Obama is down to one Teleprompter."

Oh, FFS.

As a comic, Leno goes to the BSAB well way too often in an effort to seem balanced.

Which is annoying but pretty much expected given his audience.

Not nearly annoying as the corporate media doing it, of course, just saying.

I didn't detect any barbs that were partisan, except the teleprompter joke.  But even Jon Stewart has made teleprompter jokes, so that's not conclusive.

Most of the jokes were variations on "looks like those clowns in Congress did it again... what a bunch of clowns."

Watch the Jay Leno's Garage videos.  Based on the cracks he makes about taxes and regulations, I get the sense he's fairly Republican; if that's the case, it wouldn't be the first politically mixed marriage out there.  And he and his wife tend to operate very independently.

/Saw an interview with Letterman recently where he basically said that Jay Leno's only care in the world is Jay Leno and that he's very much a "fark you, I got mine." kinda guy.
//Letterman's known him for forty years.

"Both sides are bad" is right wing propaganda in this case.
I'm surprised that government by extortion isn't more widely denounced regardless of political leanings or opinions on obamacare.
If it is successful in achieving policy objectives that couldn't be achieved by winning elections  then the only possible result will be an American government controlled by who ever is the most willing to damage America.
Only the most short sighted republicans would assume this will always be them.
If the law is bad enough to justify extortion tactics then it should be easy to win the senate and whitehouse when people see it in action.
The private insurers, and the healthcare infrastructure funded through them, that existed before obamacare will still exist during obamacare so restoring the pre-obamacare status quo will be easy if the law is a failure.
Even if that wasn't the case it still wouldn't justify suicide vest tactics though.

wildcardjack: I had to do a presentation about media bias and found someone, the sort that got paid for writing this sorta crap, complaining that CNN was a right wing outfit because he watched three business oriented shows and there weren't enough minorities.

There is actually a psychological where people see bias against them even in neutral information. I forgot what it's called, but the experiment involved showing bland and factual articles to partisans and asking them to rate the slant. Both sides strongly believed that the article was biased against them.

I prefer to think of it as a type of group psychosis.

The difference is that Al Franken stopped playing Stuart Smalley many years ago, but Jay Leno is still telling jokes that were either stolen from better comics or written by hacks.

Remember, this is a guy who doesn't want to pay an agent or manager.  How much of The Tonight Show's budget do you see him allocating towards the writing staff, rather than his own pocket.  Which is especially odd, considering that Jay, himself, has said that he doesn't spend any of it.  Boy, I can't wait for THAT money to trickle down, eh?

The butthurt in that article is massive.  Problem is, Leno jokes about the Republicans just as much as he does Democrats.  But since the Dems have such thin skin and we're supposed to worship them, they get their panties in a wad any time someone makes a joke about them.  No wonder we're in this mess.
