AL baseball is the best baseball, especially Red Sox baseball.

Was that baseball or football on the breakup of that double play?

Go go hundred million dollar steroid infused behemoths! Crush those underdogs with your well polished jackboots!

Red Sox cannot let the Rays breathe. I can see Tampa actually taking the series.

HeySubby, the plural of a one-character noun is an exception to the general rule on apostrophes.

Thus, "the A's" rather than the "As"; see AP or Chicago (7.65) for further details.

Really thought the Rays were going to take this one.

How do you take that!!!

Ugh, just get home to see the Rays are already losing - ugh.

Is there a lot of Yankee fans on FARK?  This thread is kinda empty, and that would explain it...   I'm obviously a Sox fan, and thought that Farrell would be starting Buchholz for game 2, but I guess since the series must go 3 games, it would be best to have him pitch in Tampa opposed to Lackey.

Their are certain players I like, and respect throughout the league (even Yankee players), but especially Verlander.  I can see him losing tonight for some reason, he has lost some mustard on his heat.  Anyone have thoughts about the later game?  There must be some Detroit fans in this joint.

I think there's more Yankees fans than any other specific team, but I don't think the ratio is as bad as most of us think it is.  I blame football(both college and pro).

Verlander is an oddity this year.  As a Tigers fan, I wouldn't even put him 2nd in the rotation.  But, Leeland is a crazy old man, and does crazy old man things, and most of the time it works out.  I expect a loss tonight, but the two wins at home.

As a Red Sox fan, I'm usually too busy gnawing on my fingernails to comment in these threads. Nothing is ever certain.

Yeah, I'm feeling the same way; Verlander's still upset about being tossed aside for P. Diddy and it shows every now and then. It's a big reason why I went to last night's game when Scherzer was announced as our Game 1 starter. (Well, that and I wanted to watch Northwestern put a fright into Buckeye fans.)

Koji Uehara seems pretty certain. Dude never gives up any runs. Ever. Nobody will score any runs against him, especially not today.

I honestly don't know what's wrong with him.  Everybody has a funk now and then, but over the entire season is just weird.  I know it's happened before, and I'm sure he'll recover next year, but it's kind of scary when pitchers go from #1 to #3 or worse in a given year.  You still want to put him in as a #1, #2 at worst, but is that the best for the team?  Or his ego?  I hope to be proven wrong tonight.

I'd like to point out that the Marlins have won more titles than your team in the last 20 years.

(Yankees/Giants fans suck too)

Ohhh, if you just jinxed it..... See, this is why I don't do these threads. Between the snark, the game tension, and the poor diet and lack of exercise, I just can't do it.

My understanding is that it wanders throughout the season.  Somebody posted a bunch of links a couple years ago.  I'm sure it's improved to some degree since then, but still, not 100% accurate.

Hey I remember you from Tiger's threads a couple years ago.. I wonder why these playoff threads are so dead this year.

Heh, yeah, I get around.

A lot of us have been wondering that.  Personally I think it's the lack of Yankees haters and the crazy football going on.

I got nothing solid, though.

My bracket has Tigers/Cards in the WS, but I'm secretly hoping for A's/Pirates lowest ratings ever WS.

the only thing crazy about college football is that alabama scheduled georgia state in week 6.

I'd like the A's/ Pirates if the Tigers can't get past the A's. I have a soft spot for the underdogs and I really like the Pirates this year.

I was referring to the pros, mostly.  I haven't been watching college this year.

For sure.  Pirates fans are brutal this year, too.  Meanwhile, I'm still rooting for my bracket.  That $10k spot is enticing.  I expect my bracket to be ruined by the end of the LDS, though.

See, it just goes to show - Yankee haters have nothing better to do than hate on the Yankees, and if there's nothing currently going on with the Yankees, they have nothing else to contribute.  It's why they're so pathetic.

That's not true.  I like a lot of the individual players like Jeter and Rivera.  I just dislike the management and a lot of the fans.
