That is why they call it "unofficial" dude.

That line has been in use for 15 years & I've never seen it be off.
I have no idea why the NFL or NCAA refuse to use it.

Because it's virtual.  The refs can't see it, it's only on the broadcasts.

Yeah, but why can't it be part of the review process?
Makes no sense.

I think that beg the question, though.  The line is often wrong.  It's gotten better over time, but it still is inexact.

For those of you wondering, yes, it took that last clownshoes TD for them to cover the spread (5.5 to 7, depending).

Stanford v Washington.

The refs are farking it up though, throwing ridiculous flags on both teams.

That's hilarious!!

OTL in a few years will do an episode on a gambler who got screwed.  There was a baseball game where a home run was hit with a tie score and 2 men on base, the spread was 2 runs and they would have covered but the 2nd base runner and the batter didn't touch the plate so the runs didn't count and they didn't cover the spread.

I want to say it was Mets Yankees but I can't recall

Are the refs exact?
That's the whole point. Nothing is exact. It's just another piece of information. No sense in just ignoring it.

FYI - this doesn't effect the OSU-Northwestern outcome. It's just a general gripe for me.

Baseball doesn't typically have spreads.  They usually use the money line.  Straight win or lose.

I do know there was an NCAA Championship Game or some other big basketball game that had the line change when a player hit a meaningless three as the buzzer sounded (meaning they lost by 4 instead of 7 when the line was 6 or something like that).

This is exceptional even for that level of suck.   They threw four straight flags for such things as "Illegal touching."   Then they threw another bullshiat flag on Stanford the first play of the next series.

Kind of like this from the '04 UConn-Duke tourney game?

The next day, ESPN.com reported that the shot likely shifted something between $30 million and $100 million in bets from one side to the other.

I see we're on the same page. :)

As for that NW spot, it was a bad spot, but even then I'm not sure he made it. The only one where it really looked like he made it was from behind, and as someone else said, the yellow line moved around a lot, and depth perception is a biatch from that angle.

You want to get a better spot next time? Clear it by a yard instead of just getting to the line, +/- a foot.

Right, but the point is that Kansas and Kansas City were both named because of the Kansas River.  The former didn't "steal" the name from the latter.

That was the game.  I thought it was Duke and Jason Williams, but I couldn't find anything.  That explains why.

My worst beat was a Packers-Bears game where I had a 7 point teaser with a bunch of teams where I would have won a couple hundred bucks but the Bears had a 4 play goal line stand with just a few minutes left to keep it out of reach. Just let them score and kill the clock farking Bears.

It was the over for the gambler getting screwed by the walk off.

Over/under on the game was 8 runs, gambler took the over. Score tied 3-3 Mets/Braves,Ventura hits walk off grand slam, is mobbed before he gets to home, game score 4-3.

Only 1 of the 7 CBS "experts" has an above .500 record against the spread for NFL games. I think for fun they should have a helmeted retarded kid flip a coin for every game and put up a better record than these dicks.
