It looks more like a sexy come-hithering Rhea Perlman

/$50 for an in-home visit from Mr Ice cool over there?  You get what you pay for.

Isn't this the guy that claimed some people WANTED crappy tattoos, so he specialized in them?

That chick is 17?

Yikes.

Low grade people problems.

It must be a mistake, 27 would seem reasonable, maybe even 37.

Maybe next time you'll pick a tattoo artist who's halfway competent to do a stencil of the image you want, and has proof of past work. That looks like a prison tat.

2013-10-05 09:38:12 AM
When looking for a service provider to give you a tattoo that will last forever, the guy with the face tattoos might not be entirely reliable or exercise good judgement..

Just saying.

2013-10-05 09:38:16 AM
Sounds like someone learned a valuable lesson about looking into their "artist" beforehand. A bit of research (and probably 5-10x the price), and she might have a legitimate piece of art on her arm.

2013-10-05 09:38:30 AM
You mean Marilyn wasn't a blow-up doll? That's not what JFK said. And why would some 17 year old Brit chick want Marilyn Monroe inked on her arm anyway? Because they look so much alike?

But yeah, that's one shiatty tattoo. He should pay to have it removed.

wish I could be around to see what it looks like when she's 60.
/she probably does too.

At a proper place, with a proper tattooist, that's a £500 tattoo. Photographic black and white shading is about as hard as tattooing comes. So the story is basically "Woman complains about $50 tattoo she paid £50 for".

He should be fined of course though, because she was underage.

You know what looks really nice?  When they tattoo the Gray's Anatomy (the book) view of a cadaver's dissected neck on their own neck.  Presentable.

Just because a tattoo artist has decent tattoos it doesn't mean he is a decent artist.

In a surprise twist, some prison tatooers are actually amazing artists. Even with substandard equipment. This looks so bad it triggers my "daily fail stories are all fake" mechanism.

It's basically the old story of "Two hairdressers on a desert island, one with a terrible haircut, one with a great hair cut. Who do you get your haircut by?".

/although look for food, shelter, and water first.

Normally I agree with these assessments, especially for english people(they tend to get rode hard and put away wet), but she's not all that bad.  Skin is full and clear(aside from the tat). No wrinkles on her face at all, has youthful smoothness.

Freakish paleness around her lips though, probably fake bakes and doesn't understand that lipstick/chapstick only goes on the lips...

But late 20s or 30s?  You're on crack.

/not very attractive though
//youth =\= pretty features

To me, she look like a 35 year old who's looked after herself and stayed out the sun.

FTFA:  The sessions are extremely painful and very expensive, especially for a tattoo I paid only £50 for.

OK, I'll re-phrase.

You are letting things like bone structure and facial expression and style choice influence your perception/guess of her age.

The only indicators of age are condition of the skin.(unless you're comparing significantly younger people, they will tend to have softer/rounder faces, but it's not strange for  sharper/different bone structure to surface in the late teens).

Now, her skin is just starting to barely lose it's smoothness natural to a youth.  In another 5-10 years she may age 10-20 visibly.  The upside down crosses on her shirt and her obviously low intelligence level would lead me to bet that is will be the case.

But as of right now, she doesn't look too bad for her age(again, disregarding things like bone structure and musculature).  Her skin is not haggard, saggy, or wrinkled, or hollow.

You may as well be guessing she has implants and athlete's foot.  There simply isn't any indication of that and you're winging it without having actually analyzed relevant traits without bias.

Can you lose that apostrophe in that possessive pronoun? It doesn't look smooth or natural.

That's not so true any more. I think she looks like someone in their 30s who uses a retinoid moisturiser.

Maybe he didn't like her and she was complaining about the pain.  I know tattoo artists like this, and that wreck could easily be fixed.  It looks like a generic outline.. Add darker outline and color, and Ta-Da..  Congrats, you have a whore on your arm.

Complainey squirmers get the highest rates. An enterprising tattooist shouldn't alienate them.

A fine? Just to lessen the chances of this happening again, they should tattoo 'caveat emptor' on his forehead, if there's enough room left.

Something about the eyes and the neck. The thousands of tiny things that make us guess an age go well beyond just skin (which is the easiest thing now to "youthen").

Before anyone posts the "awful wedding photo tattoo", bear in mind that recently a REAL tattoo artist had seen this insult to all tattoo artists and offered to correct the hack's job into a more pleasant looking version, for free.

Then it would at least have looked like a RealDoll. This tattoo is clearly in blow-up territory, and even Kwame has standards.

I was about to say, that's unusual and funny, not poorly inked or cliche, in an easily covered area, and not a portrait of a person or their name.

That...pretty well covers the "good" tattoo definition. Not really a great tattoo: it lacks any real reason for existing. It's not art, just a cutesy drawing.

Good portraits are incredibly hard in media where you can erase things and start over. They are an exceptionally bad idea for a tattoo unless you have a truly gifted artist. Even then, they're still usually a bad idea.

As someone who commuted to a jerb in Glasgow from a rented an apartment in Burnbank (locally known as The Jungle, I kid you not), I'd say she's kinda hot, and looks quite young for coming from that area. (yes, really)

I still think she should persue through the civil courts for all costs to cover up/remove that horrifying inkbortion

I have no tats, and I don't have any specific plans on getting one.  However, if the mood should strike, I'm going to start at the top of the price range and work my way down, not the other way around.
