Bikers insist that Lien was the aggressor.
"He drove erratically and bumped the bike on the side," one biker said. "When he bumped that bike on the side, that bike became aggressive because his life was in danger."

god knows how many stories I've heard over the years about asian bankers out with their wives and 2 year old children, deciding to mix it up with an entire biker gang.

2013-10-05 08:24:23 AM
If there were a few guys there who are actually undercover and were there as a part of building a bigger case against a few (or more) of some of the participants of this group (I hesitate in calling them a gang)...I really do not see too much wrong with this.

That being said, the off-duty cops and corrections officers...yeah...no.  Completely unacceptable.

That's what I was thinking.  The one who lawyered up will almost certainly claim this, but then he's going to have to testify against the others.  And I'd bet that they will have something to say about that.

No matter how you look at it, this is a big old shiat sandwich for the bikers. Vigilantism doesn't play in modern society too well, especially as misgided as this was.

I'm with the bikers on this one anyway, because two wheels good.

Yeah, but then the cops use their power to lie about it and cover it up.  That's what makes them extra asshole-y.

Hm, who you going to believe - the family out for a drive or the biker with no driver's license who never applied for a motorcycle license? Gee that's a tough one.

/Figures - he was a Masshole

Wonder if these bikers are available for the next Fred Phelps event

as far as I know they do.

Not sure if they have "control angry mob of crazed bikers all by yourself" powers though.

Retarded crap? Okay. Not doing a gotdamned thing when seeing someone dragged out of their vehicle and beaten on the ground while cops, undercover or not, stand around with their collective thumbs up their asses? Just one of the many reasons to hate/distrust cops.

There were only 5 of them, it takes that many to shoot unarmed people who haven't done anything.

That and, if a guy is driving into motorcycles the only safe thing they can do is pull in front of him.

Ummm. Have you actually watched the video? The only erratic drivers were on motorcycles.

Okay, after multiple fark links about this story, I broke down and watched the video. Bikers? Outlaw gang? I clicked the link expecting the Sons of Anarchy, and instead saw a bunch of normals on rice-rockets.

My sympathies are with the ... motorcycle enthusiasts ... here. If I saw someone run my buddy over and speed away, I'd be rather put out myself.

True. I once saw an Asian family pull in front of a gang of bikers and simultaneously release a smoke screen and oil slick. A lot of outstanding citizens were maimed or killed. It was horrible.

What video did you watch? I saw out of control punks. If you are referring to the rear ending that's the bikers fault. The only crime is that no bikers died. Hopefully those cops will soon be ex cops.

If you watched the video and didn't see a problem with anything the bikers did, I'm going to lay heavy money on someone running you over one day.

An unedited version of the video.  It'll answer a lot of questions and support Lien or the riders.  Or there's always a possibility that it'll show the GoPro guy was day dreaming and looking elsewhere.  Whatever the case, the video hasn't shown up.  Dunno if police have found the GoPro.  I'm guessing that explains why they searched the one biker's home.

Yeah, me too.  I'm pretty sure there's a law in all 50 states that says a group of motorcyclists can take over the entire road with impunity, brake check other drivers, and then get all pissy when they get rubbed by a car and take action by threatening him and his family.  I mean the nerve of this guy, right?  If a gang of motorcycle riders wants to rough you and your family up, guess what, this is America!  They have that right, especially if you're some sort of geeky Asian.  I mean, did anyone bother to check that guys green card?

And if the SUV had been following the 'rules of the road' he would have either slowed down or backed off from the bike, and never hit him.

Everything after that? Pure insane mob justice, unexcused. A lot of bike riders feel they're outside/above the law, and that's exacerbated by being on a crotch rocket for some reason. Getting a bunch of them together is then a worse idea.  I've been 'surrounded' by bikers on a ride before. I slowed down, got over to the right, and let them all pass me, because I didn't want to get in their way, and they made me nervous.

I wouldn't blame Lien for running more of them over during the incident. On purpose. He might have escaped being beaten so badly if he'd have been a bit more bloodthirsty himself.

IMHO it looked like the biker cut off the suv and brake checked him. The suv had no room to stop. It's almost like the insurance scam.

rules of the road says you don't slam your brakes on while looking around at your buddies when you're within a few feet of an SUV

That's the $10,000 question.

The family in the SUV claim they were doing nothing wrong when then suddenly swarmed by the bikers. The Bikers claim they were riding along when the SUV began bumping into them. The video starts when they are already around the SUV, so it's hard to say for sure. But when it starts it shows the bikes keeping pace with the SUV until one of them cuts in front of the SUV and breaks at close quarters forcing a collision.

My personal guess, based on what we've heard, is that the bikers were being dicks. They swarmed the SUV for a minute or two to be "funny" or just because. They likely had no plans to hurt anyone. The SUV driver was made nervous by the swarm, and was likely swerving, in his lane, trying not to hit a biker. The bikers were so close to him that he probably, in swerving/drifting to avoid bumping a bike on his right, hit one on this left (or vice versa).

This was probably Christopher Cruz who has been identified as being the biker who pulled in front and stopped the SUV, and things went from bad to worse.

So you had a bunch of bikers driving along, a few were being dicks to a nervous driver and someone got bumped and everything snowballed.
