Oh come on, Canada.  You were cool.  All my favorite TV is made there.  I feel like you're the good natured sibling that can give it as well as they take it.

Don't be like that.

Apparently Harper is jockeying for the RNC nomination in 2016. There are dick moves, and then there are dick moves so covered in Derp they could be right out of the American Family Association's playbook.Fark this douchebag right in his ass. It's bad enough we have been apologizing for Alan Thicke and Celine Dion for 20 years, now we have to add this jacktard to the list.

Harper is a c*nt. No. Really. Time for this jerk to go.

I cannot WAIT to hear the thoughts of Alberta's Conservative Premier, Alison Redford.  This should do a treat.

I've lived here all my life, and I just don't get how Harper has stayed in power so effectively.  It's like the mantra "Canadian politics are boring and trivial" is so ingrained into the Canadian psyche that even when our government actually starts doing seriously shady things, everyone just keeps ignoring politics anyway.  Harper has lost our seat on the Security Council, turned us (officially at least) into one of the leading international climate change deniers, unilaterally abandoned existing international agreements we'd already signed, tried to twist every scandal and debate into an issue of partisanship, led a party organization that's been caught messing with elections, and even suspended parliament for his own convenience.  At this point I have no idea what it will take for Canadians to actually pay attention to what their own government is doing.

I blame the Liberal Party for choosing Stephane Dion and Michael Ignatieff as their last two leaders. Anybody competent would have been elected Prime Minister. These two clowns were so obviously useless that people decided to stick with Harper.

No, they weren't.  Anyone that thinks Canada's some sort of left-wing paradise or even substantially more politically reasonable than the US most of the time clearly doesn't pay much attention to international news.

Like they can actually enforce it.

Sending aid is like putting money into a black box most of the time. You have no clue what's going to happen once it leaves your hands and you rarely see the workings of the system that handles it.

Wait, corporations want to expand into new markets? Unheard of!

when men die,  the song goes: *it is always heroic and for their country* - no one asks about body rights they are just conscripted; somebody say anything about your c*nt - then it is your own body and property. hypocritical. we want the same rights.

We're still cool, honest. We are however suffering from some of the same problems as the American system. The current federal government was elected with 39.6% of a 61.4% voter turn out. Gerrymandering is a major problem, ie: Saskatoon, a city of ~225,000, is divided into 3 or 4 ridings which skews an other-wise leftist city population into being represented by rightist rural candidates that have little connection to the city or the people they purport to represent, and the current government has shown a new level of disdain for the laws and government institutions of our country (numerous in-and-out ridings where they broke the allowed spending caps, robocalls purporting to be the other parties, repeated prorogation of Parliament to avoid answering questions and ending debate on numerous questionable laws, stifling of government scientists and research departments through de-funding, and numerous typically Republican tactics).

But there's still hope. I live in the Redneck Capital of Canada (Red Deer would win the title but no one like Red Deer enough to award them anything) and we have a soft-spoken brown Muslim mayor who is about to be re-elected by a landslide. What we really need is another Jack Layton to unite the left and bring a new party to lead the country. Our ruling two have been allowed to run things for far too long, and it's clearly hurting our democracy.

Opposition to the Conservatives is split among multiple parties. That's fine when it happens on a national/regional scale and results in a minority government, but when it happens in enough ridings to give the ruling party a majority of seats and that party then declares themselves to have "a clear mandate" despite getting less than 40% of the popular vote, it's a problem.

I actually feel like Canadians are paying more attention than usual, but maybe that's just a result of my efforts to make sure those around me know what's going on. Even my parents (who have never voted anything other than Conservative unless it was to vote Reform Party) are now willing to begrudgingly admit that Harper and his band of merry men are doing terrible and long lasting damage to our country.

Not providing something for free to people overseas is an act of aggression now?

The War on Christmas narrative will at least give you a token examples Christmas decorations being taken off public property.

This scores a "well that's not a very nice thing to do" on the outrage scale.

Don't forget censoring federal scientists so that they can't report on their research unless Harper likes what that research says!  Of Harper's many transgressions, this is in my opinion the most outrageous!

We need ranked ballots so that never again can the party that the fewest Canadians agree with win the most votes just because the opposition is split!
