I made a Simpsons reference in class today.  Punk kids didn't recognise "That's not a knife, this is a knife." "Hey man, that's a spoon."

This is after last year's rugrats didn't realise Homer had climbed (most of) the Muderhorn.

Kids today with their Facepage and their Ciley Myrus...

Just think: a year from now, people will be complaining that the 26th Season isn't nearly as good as the 23d was.

Somaticasual: Honestly, just let the simpsons die in peace.  It's great that it's been a wide success, and yes future generations should have access to it, but it has long since run it's course as an original.  Let it die before it's the animated equivalent of keeping a comatose grandpa alive on a ventilator..

That sounds unchristian. I'm going to have to ask the Florida government to make a decision here, based on WWJD.

As long as it's still a wholesome family show it can stay on forever.

Ullman shorts, Christmas show,
Marge's fling, Homer's bro,
Bart in well, Flanders fails,
Whacking snakes, Monorail.
Mr. Plow, Homer space,
Sideshow Bob steps on rakes,
Lisa's future, Selma's hubby,
Marge not proud, Homer chubby.
Homer worries Bart is gay,
Poochie, U2, NRA,
Hippies, Vegas and Japan,
Octuplets, and Bart's boy band.
Marge murmurs, Maude croaks,
Lisa's Buddhist, Homer tokes,
Maggie blows Burns away,
What else do I have to say!
They'll never stop The Simpsons,
Have no fears, we've got stories for years, like:
Marge becomes a robot,
Maybe Moe gets a cell phone,
Has Bart ever owned a bear?
Or how about a crazy wedding?
Where something happens, a-do-do-do-do-do.
Sorry for the clip show.
Have no fears, we've got story for years

LesserEvil: Uzzah: "This groundbreaking series is not only the longest-running scripted show in television history..."

[wormholeriders.net image 850x330]

"Excuse me?"

/Longest-running prime time show, maybe.
//by age, of course. "Gunsmoke" had 630 episodes in 20 years, compared to "The Simpsons" 500-something in 25 years.
///"Guidling Light" was around even longer than GH, although it's off the air now.

Doctor Who is running 33 seasons (or 'series' in UK parlance) for 798 episodes and still going.

Television history includes a lot more than American programming.

You don't get credit for half seasons.  A seson is 26 weeks. not 13 and 1/2.

If only Phil Hartman didn't die. Lionel Hutz had to be one of the funniest fictional lawyers ever.

/Lionel Hutz, court-appointed attorney. I'll be defending you on the charge of... Murder One! Wow! Even if I lose, I'll be famous!

ManateeGag: parkerlewis: Does it really make people upset that The Simpsons was renewed for another season?  Grrrr!!!!  A cartoon hasn't been cancelled yet!  I must rage!!!!

seriously. It's not like there's a law requiring them to watch.

/yet

As long as they are on, they are taking up a valuable programming slot that could be occupied by "MasterChef Fast Food Edition" (McDonald's and Burger King workers compete with nothing but a fry grill and the finest ingredients you can get out of a SYSCO freezer truck) or "Gas Station Damnation" (Gordon Ramsay fixes up run down gas stations)

Cake Hunter: I still like it, which is amazing because I started watching it when I was 10.

And you are now 10 and a half..
