Cool! Yes, I still watch it.

2013-10-04 07:58:07 PM
Just think: a year from now, people will be complaining that the 26th Season isn't nearly as good as the 23d was.

2013-10-04 07:58:44 PM
So does this mean it's NOT cool to hate them again?

I still like it, which is amazing because I started watching it when I was 10.

Honestly, just let the simpsons die in peace.  It's great that it's been a wide success, and yes future generations should have access to it, but it has long since run it's course as an original.  Let it die before it's the animated equivalent of keeping a comatose grandpa alive on a ventilator..

Still a good show. And it must be getting ratings.

Of course they're going to milk this cow dry. With the show not being watchable in the past 13 years, the Simpsons have become  your COD of tv.

I made a Simpsons reference in class today.  Punk kids didn't recognise "That's not a knife, this is a knife." "Hey man, that's a spoon."

This is after last year's rugrats didn't realise Homer had climbed (most of) the Muderhorn.

Kids today with their Facepage and their Ciley Myrus...

Here's a tip:  If you don't like it, and think it's gone past the magical expiration date according to your oh so cool and non mainstream tastes ...

then don't watch it.

I'm certain your outrage will be duly noted

/my kids love it, and if The Simpsons can give me some alone time with the wife, let it run 4EVAH!

As long as they are on, they are taking up a valuable programming slot that could be occupied by "MasterChef Fast Food Edition" (McDonald's and Burger King workers compete with nothing but a fry grill and the finest ingredients you can get out of a SYSCO freezer truck) or "Gas Station Damnation" (Gordon Ramsay fixes up run down gas stations)

thecpt: Simpsons did it

Exactly what I find myself saying whenever I catch any of the newer episodes.  (Yes, I'm one of the "The Simpsons Was Greatest From Season 1-12" crowd, but I'm not telling those who like today's shows to not watch it.  Just stating my own preference.)

/if yer gonna be on my lawn, ya better be mowin' it.
//did that sound dirty...?

I still enjoy about 75% of the new episodes. Is it the same as seasons 1-10? No, it has changed and evolved. Some of the laughs are a little cheap, but I don't mind a cheap laugh.

2013-10-04 09:05:29 PM
Man a Fark thread where most of the people LIKE the Simpsons?

What parallel universe did I wake up in?

/still watch it...is it as good as the classics? Nope
//is it still better than about 95% of what's on? Yep. Hope they run it forever, last thing we need is another reality show or Family Guy Spinoff 4

I've got 12 seasons or so waiting to be delved back into.  Been thinking about it for a while.  Hmm..  Why not now?  Now is good.  To the man cave~!

2013-10-04 09:11:46 PM
God, let it die. I've essentially memorized every moment of the first ten seasons and it's unwatchably bad now.

If only Phil Hartman didn't die. Lionel Hutz had to be one of the funniest fictional lawyers ever.

I still like the show and I think it's a lot better than most of the crap on TV these days. I feel kind of bad for all the haters who are apparently forced at gunpoint to watch the show though, must be tough. At least they are free to whine about it on the internet.

I used to watch the shorts on the Tracy Ullman show before there ever was a Simpsons. I guess I would have been 15, 16? Something?

All right another Treehouse of Horror.  That is my favorite episode every season. I wish they would release a DVD of just those episodes.

Never watched it. I'm 48 and dealt with the Bart shirt trends  twice. Good for you Fox and fans of this show.

Doctor Who is running 33 seasons (or 'series' in UK parlance) for 798 episodes and still going.

Television history includes a lot more than American programming.

You don't get credit for half seasons.  A seson is 26 weeks. not 13 and 1/2.

Yep I still remember when Fox was this new upstart. That, Married with Children, and 21 jump street were the big shows. 1986-87 IIRC I think it's actually time for a Simpsons renaissance.  I got so burned out on them I haven't watched regularly in about 10 years. But that trailer for the treehouse of horror 20-whatever kind of made me want to start watching it again.

We're also forgetting foreign series. I'm pretty sure Detective Conan has more episodes than the Simpsons, and I believe Sazae-san holds the world record for longest-running animated series since it's been on the air since friggin' 1969.

/now I really just wish they'd dub the rest of Detective Conan
//it'll never happen unless I hit the lottery and pay for it single-handedly

Indeed -  Zenigata Heiji has been broadcast in Japan in various incarnations with over 1200 episodes since 1952.

I remember when I went to college at UF no one had Fox so we would gather at bars to watch The Simpsons. Now I'm the one wearing an onion on my belt. I'm glad it's still around; it's pretty much a television institution now, why get rid of it? The voice actors will die one day.

Aren't they planning on a all Simpsons channel?

/Any season past 12-24 still manages to have 2-3 great episodes.

Sorry guys, Universal Studios Orlando just built an entire Simpsons-Land. The Simpsons aren't going anywhere.

/hope they include the Treehouse of Horror to Halloween Horror Nights
