He's got a nice gym membership, too. In fact, he needs to be there in 26 minutes.

No attempt at subtlety?

Christ, dude, you suck.

Not only do you look like a selfish man, it also makes you look like a straight-up asshole.

/I wrote "eke" first before I replaced it with "also".
//I think my Anglo-Saxon love is farking with my head

2013-10-04 04:22:06 PM
To be fair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D) also said in an interview that she was keeping her pay.  But she didn't sound like an asshole when answered the question, either.

Really, though, do you think any of them will forfeit their pay?  I know Cruz claimed he'd donate it (like that's a sacrifice given his wife's paycheck).

He "worked to earn it". And by working, he means voting so a million or so COULDN'T work and earn.

That's high quality "fark you, I got mine" right there. A true GOP standard bearer.

When, exactly, have you been "working"?

What about all the people not getting paid because your party is full of whining infants with loaded diapers?  I bet some of them have nice houses too, but they might have them for long if they miss a couple mortgage payments.

worked?

lee terry is one of the least effective and least powerful members of congress, despite the fact that his party is in power and that he's been reelected something like 6 times.

Maybe we should start a list.

You don't have to rich to be a Republican, but it sure helps.
You don't have to be crazy to be a Republican, but it sure helps.
You don't have to have severe disdain for your fellow man to be a Republican, but it sure helps.

If you are a conservative then they definitely have empathy for you

If you are just some Democrat they won't give two shiats about you.

Christianity has a lot of bad things about it, but when it comes down to it, whenever a member needs help, the Church is there for them.

These asshole realize that this winter, when they run out of cute things to say, that "let them eat cake" might not be a good idea in a land where any disgruntled idiot can land a gun and ammo for a few bucks. And steal a car.

I'm keeping a list. So tar, there are three of these idiots. One said she "couldn't afford it"', one said he "deserved his salary" and this one has a nice house and a kid in college.

I imagine his kid isn't getting Pell grants. Oh that's right, NO ONE'S kid is getting Pell Grants right now* because you shut the farking ED down.

*in all honesty, this is only for people who hadn't had their FAFSA processed before the shutdown, but still.

2013-10-04 04:56:23 PM
Hou dont have to be an old, white Christian male to be a Republican, but...

Oh wait. Yeah, you pretty much do.

2013-10-04 05:01:59 PM
I know of furloughed federal workers who are working on the sly right now, without compensation, because they have a sense of obligation to the people depending on them.

fark. This. Asshole.

WHAT THE FARK, GUN NUTS?

What are you waiting for? This Second Amendment thing you've been waving around as an excuse to collect all your toys, THIS is exactly the kind of shiat it was talking about. What more do you need?

2013-10-04 05:02:36 PM
From the headline, I thought this was going to be a repeat...

But nope, two completely different GOP Congresscritters.  Wow.

Diogenes: To be fair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D) also said in an interview that she was keeping her pay.  But she didn't sound like an asshole when answered the question, either.

Also, she's not one of the neanderfarks responsible for this legislative misfeasance.

What kind of bootleg congressman lives off his salary? You're LEGALLY allowed to insider trade!

God where do they find these people?

What does that even mean? You just spout off some unrelated sound bite and ride off into the night? What are you saying?

2013-10-04 05:06:41 PM
I'm sure furloughed workers live in "nice" houses as well.  Nice houses that they would like to keep.

2013-10-04 05:06:49 PM
With the amount of spin going on on Capitol Hill, I'm amazed the sun didn't rise in the West this morning.

In any thread in which the discussion centers around the subject of government shutdown, there should be no one saying "both sides are bad". If you are then you are the dumbest motherfarker on this site, and when cman says you are dumb, he knows what he is talking about because he is an expert at it.

No, it shouldn't be about teams. That's everything that's wrong with politics in this country. It's not a Goddamned football team. People who are psycho about their guns do so because they threaten that if the government farks EVERYONE over on either side of the aisle and dares the people to do anything about it then they'd straighten shiat out well there it is in one press release.

2013-10-04 05:11:34 PM
So the game is to shame all Congresspeople into not taking their paychecks? As tfa says, there are only about 100 who have done that so far, so they have a long way to go.

Huff-Po will keep us posted because this is just as important as shutting down war memorials.

2013-10-04 05:11:35 PM
In all fairness, its easy for some congresscritters to pull this salary-donation PR stunt when they've become independently wealthy from insider trading and influence peddling.

These folks who are refusing to give up their salaries are blind to how bad the optics appear but it doesn't necessarily make the rest of the lot any better human beings.
