Aren't they all closed now because of Obamacare? Don't tell me the Facebook posts and FwFwFwFw I've seen are wrong?

So a single, solitary employee acting alone MIGHT have made a comment that is borderline offensive and we're supposed to be outraged?

Between the PC stuff and the antibullying crusade this country is going softer than a fat girl's inner thighs.

Of course they do. They just like to crucify them for funsies.

"Our family has a deep respect for the Jewish faith and those who hold its traditions dear. We're proud contributors to Yad Vashem, as well as to other museums and synagogues in Israel and the United States," Green said

... "as long as they're not filthy homosexuals!", he added.

If a business tells you're they're christian, that's the time to run, before they try to defraud you.

Hobby Lobby is still around?

Who goes to hobby lobby besides old ladies obsessed with scrapbooking?

If this happened at Wal-Mart, no one would think much about it.  But it happened at a store that has made itself a very visible and vocal advocate for traditional, Christian family values.

I hope so. David Green is a piece of work and his stores are full of 300lb sweatpant wearing weirdos who smell of cat piss and desperation.

They're not closed at sundown on the Saturday before.  Clearly they're anti-Semitic.

Open on Fridays, too.  They're also the other kind of anti-Semitic.

"You people" is offensive.  Any reasonable person who know that.  But beyond that I can care less what Hobby Lobby sells or doesn't sell or how it runs its business.

/your second statement is offensive as well so I don't count you as a reasonable person

They do sell Vallejo miniature paints, and the 40% coupons they print every week are valid for those.  They have some other decent low to mid-range quality art supplies as well.

I do, as I get some paracord from them. Besides the Army supply store, HL is the only the other place that sells it in 100' bundles.

Well, good Christians know that Jews killed Jesus.

Educated people know that's bullshiat, but I said good Christians. You know, like the owners of Hobby Lobby.

Not the shareholders of the corporation, but the ignorant farks that founded it who think they should control what those employees do out of the office.

Usually when a store flaunts it's Christian values it's just another way of them.saying we hate gays but can't openly say it. Kirk Cameron works the same way.

No, and I think you're missing the context and therefore the point.  This is merely an example of a clearly established pattern of behavior that is set by leadership at the top of the company, and inevitably is felt at all levels.  The leadership of the chain of 500 stores spouts ignorant fake Christian crap all over the place (to include attempting not to offer proper health care coverage to employees due to "religious exemptions") - and this is what you get as a result.

2013-10-04 12:39:16 PM
Why can't a business accept or turn away customers as the owner chooses?  If they're dumb enough to ignore a certain group because of bigotry, they'll suffer lost sales and someone else will cater to that segment of the population

Okay you statists, go ahead and e-scream at me about how if it weren't for the Civil Rights Act and big government we'd all be living in antebellum South Carolina, as if social evolution is completely reliant on what comes out of that bastion of progressive thought, Washington DC.

You people are as frustrating as an Asian driver at a four way stop.

(I'm sorry-- am I not allowed to say "you people?"  Where should I report for reeducation?)

I don't and will not ever have any interest in going to a Hobby Lobby store or any other "craft" store, but I'm going to go ahead and call that a big load of horseshiat.  I'm guessing the guy went in there and asked, if that much even happened, and got a response like "Sorry, we don't have any bar mitzvah cards."

do pray tell (or don't pray but just tell) what is "proper health care coverage" and why is that the obligation of the business owner?  Should we put businesses in charge of funding clothes, education, and funerals for employees, as well?

I was unaware of hobby lobby's history of overt Christian statements. I don't buy into that fairy tale but if they want to yap about it that's their business not mine.  Quite literally.

Buddy of mine is a loan manager. He says anytime someone wants a loan for a business "to do God's work" etc, he doubles down on the inspection of the company. He's had too many failed businesses from people listening to voices in their heads.
This is in Philadelphia, Mississippi, btw.

Wife and I went to Hobby Lobby about a week ago. Needed some odds and ends for her Halloween costume. Anyhow, my god, I don't know if we were in the mirror universe or something, but every goddamned woman in that place was gorgeous. Hot, hot yoga pants wearing crafters, I guess. I'd never seen anything like it as far as Hobby Lobby goes. Hell, even my wife commented on the weirdness. It was like that episode of Seinfeld where every waitress at Monk's was hot.

Followed by:

So, technically it's true. They don't cater to the Jewish community, for now.

They'll take money from anyone, though.

If they want to advertise themselves as "Christian," they should be called "Jesus Crafts" or "Jesus Hallowed Be Thy Holy Name Hobbies and Crafts" or "Christians Only Lobby." You get the idea.

It's not "their business" when they are forcing it on all their employees.

And you're right, it shouldn't be on a business, the government should be providing health care to everyone like in the rest of the civilized world.

And where would the government get the revenue to run such an enterprise?

Btw-- it most certainly is their business. That's the point-- it is literally the owner's business. If the employee doesn't like it they can take a hike and start their own business.

That's a really good deal - I just assumed the coupons didn't work for the miniature paints since they're already marked down so much from the Citadel branded Vallejo acrylics.
