Gyrfalcon: So she was just an ORDINARY crazy drunk with a baby in the car trying to smash her way through the White House gate and running from cops ordering her to stop? That means we can still feel sorry for her and excoriate the cops for their overreach, and not praise them for taking down a crazed gunman/terrorist trying to kill the President?

Yes, anyone who desecrates the sacred sod in the vicinity of His Wonderfulness and then flees at a high rate of speed, then stopped miles away when surrounded by police, may not TECHNICALLY pose a threat to His Magificence's person, but she has offended His dignity, and for that her life is forfeit.

There's lots more to this story, and it's being reported in various places.  Suggest you read it and post about that instead of your own fantasies about drunkeness.

The Obama baby drama story is funny though.

Exactly.  And you'd best all keep that in mind.

It's not like Obama is ever there, anyway.

President's not the president anyway, you know that!

ZoeNekros: I can't help but wonder if she just got distracted, bumped into the barricade, then panicked and drove off as armed men began to swarm... with disastrous consequences.

But yes, far too few details at this point to know.

Did you see the video? She wasn't distracted or panicking. All she needed to do was stop. She was running at the barricades and trying to either flee or run someone down.

As to her motive, who knows; (we'll never know now) but this wasn't a case of mad-dog cops run amok. Also, she ended up at the White House, and there's no way the Secret Service, in this day & age and with this President, is going to do anything but shoot first and nevermind asking questions. Whether you're a drunken fool going the wrong way or a crazed gunman, if you run the gate at the White House, you may as well figure you WILL die at that point.

Beer cap: jaytkay: ZoeNekros: I can't help but wonder if she just got distracted, bumped into the barricade, then panicked and drove off

In the video, it looks like she's driving way to much for simple panic. They had her stopped, she took off and drove in circles as they boxed her in with barricades and cop cars.

With a kid in the car, if it was an accident, I would imagine at the most she would drive away from the guys with guns, stop and get out with her hands up or holding the baby.

I'm guessing the traffic circle is the reason for the whole driving in circles thing.

Just a hunch.

No, one of her turn signals was out and she could only turn right. Unless she kept turning left, in which case she probably thought she was Danica Patrick at Daytona.

Well, that's hyperbolic, but yeah... the best thing to do is raise your hands and shout that you have a baby and that you're unarmed.

That wasn't that hard, was it?

I wasn't exaggerating. If your first thought is to put a baby between you and firearms, you shouldn't have children.

Between the cop injuring himself by driving into a stationary object, the multiple cops firing at a threat ineffectively, and the group of cops killing the suspect after she had left her vehicle, this sounds like some top-notch police work.

/at least they managed, by pure luck, not to shoot the child

Lighten up. It's not like there's one obvious correct action for a panicked person in a car chase with cops waving their pistols around.

I wrote if she were merely panicked, and was not determined to harm other people or herself, she might grab the kid AFTER driving away from the guys with guns.

Especially if cop cars are racing around crashing into shiat.

Saw the video of her circling something. Then three cops circling the same thing behind her. Honestly, my first thought was Keystone Cops. Sorry, but why they need to chase each other when the video clearly shows every law enforcement agency in DC responding from every direction is a mystery.
