I'm hopeful that the Browns can keep doing well.
Their long suffering fans could use some time without the bags on their faces.

If only there were some way a wistful Bills fan could watch this game without shelling out extra monies ...

Not that it matters. I've parental responsibilities this evening. I'll keep tabs on nfl mobile.

Oh and F you, NFL. If it is made for TV, make it available *on* TV.

How often is the following statement true:  Either the Browns or Bill will come out of this game with a winning record (probably).

Things are going red around this one. Hopefully soon.

Well, you know, greenlighting threads before the game that they're about actually starts is extremely difficult. Almost impossible, in fact.

At least Bradford isn't playing...

Confused Bradford

Horse shiat!

Most threads this year are green-lit at 8am and become "public" an hour before the game.

Oh GAWD, we have gone HYPER-PINK!!

2013-10-03 08:31:51 PM
Here we are in week 5. The funkyness has returned! We have coaches on the seat that grows warmer, we have teams that shouldn't be O-fers that are, and teams that aren't but should be.
We have surprises that suprise exactly nobody, and out-of-left-field sayWHAT moves that NOONE saw coming. We have benchings, trades, injuries, front office shenanigans and division races that are beginning to come into focus. By Tuesday morning, we're going to start seeing who's who and who isn't.
Lets get started!

Thursday

BUF @ CLE
Its a football game between Buffalo and Cleveland, and the host Browns are slight favorites in Vegas. Only the fact that this game is being played the day before Friday would clue many in that we didn't bump our heads and wake up in 1971.
We've got a rookie QB, drafted high and playing surprisingly well but showing rookie oopsies in EJ Manuel, some dings in the running game and a not-too-shabby oline. A decent enough D getting some folks back from injury and we just might have a game plan here! Jarius Byrd is OUT tonight, by the way.
Then, the 'wait, wha...WHO?' entry of the week: Brian Hoyer, 2-0 as a starting QB. Yea, let THAT sink in a bit. The strength of this team is the defense, but I think the offense and maybe the whole team went into a weird funk after the Richardson trade. "Oh, really? We've given up, have we?"
They're playing and going balls out for the fark-you factor by the look of it. They're loose, and having fun, and actually making some plays. Who knew the secret was NOT trying too hard and having fun?
Anyhow, I'm sticking with Dawgs here. I like Buffalo a lot as a fellow small-town team guy, and I'm intrigued by Manuel. Lets see how they hold up.
Sunday Early

KC @ TEN
If it weren't for Locker's injury, I might have stuck with the home team Tits in this one. They've been playing well on both sides of the ball (except CJ0K, of course, as farking usual) and it looked like Jake had finally stopped playing like The Jake for a bit. I want Fitz to do well, cause I have a soft spot for smart jocks, and he played in Buffalo. But that's not enough.
Right now, it looks like Big Red has a good plan for his new Chefs. He's playing to their strengths. The defense especially has stepped up the game and everyone from the unknown to the big name is playing HARD. The whole squad is FLYING to the ball and playing to the whistle even on junk plays. When the team really buys in, it shows on the field in little details. Watching the Chefs play right now, they're 'All In' and not taking plays off or giving in. They 'believe'. That's powerful.
KC in the 'upset'. FYI, Vegas says this is a push right now (Wednesday evening as I type this)

BAL @ MIA
I'm so unsure of how to rate the Phins right now. They show promise....lots of it. Hell, they were in that Monday night game until the endish of the third. But they're also very young, and they act like it. I saw a lot of hanging heads after those stupid turnovers Monday night, and not just a little hanging. I mean, as my mom used to say, "Pick that lip up, you're gonna step on it". They get deflated easily, and make youngish mistakes that can be coached out in time. But until then, the D can only bail them out so much.
However, Miami's D is well-placed to take away what little offense the Ravens bring to the table right now. Now that 'Wacco for Flacco 2.0' post-Super Bowl has had time to quiet down, people are starting to realize that the 2013 Baltimore squad is much worse than the 2012 regular season team was, and most of us remember THEY spent most of the year playing like a .500 team, if they got lucky.
I'm not sold on the Ravens this year, and playing in the south Florida heat has Vegas giving this contest a push. Don't forget, this was the same Miami squad that played the Failcons to a loss in this stadium not long ago.
I'm taking the host LOLPhins. YOLO, or some shiat.

JAX @ STL
The next person that brings up that stupid "Jacksonville would lose to a High School team" bullshiat gets cockpunched.
Even though they are the anti-best of the NFL by a wide margin, NFL caliber talent (stop laughing) is head and shoulders above even good college teams. Yea, they're powerful bad, but be real, OK?
That said, the _Rams_ are 12 point favorites. That should tell you all you need to know.

NE @ CIN
The Vegas crowd says the Patties by about 2ish.
*sigh* The Pats offense and Tommy Brieber have JUST enough horsepower to scare bad teams. But the Cardiac Cats are not a bad team. They have a really, really good pass rush and some excellent weapons on offense.
And I cannot overstate how big a loss Vince Wilfork is to the middle of that New England defense.
I'm gonna roll the dice a bit here and go with the host Cincy team. I think it'll be down to the wire, as you can't ever count of the Patriots O and the refs that make up rules on the fly to need Bristol happy, but I'm thinking a silly, circus catch by either Green or the TE will seal a 10 point win.

SEA @ IND
This one is kinda tough for me to pick. Vegas says its a push right now, btw.
Break it down: Seattle is a good offensive squad, and while they aren't as potent on the road, last week showed yet again that Russ Wilson does NOT care and can, occasionally, simply WILL his offense into position to score. Indy has classically been a 'weak' defense, and they won't be able to keep that offense from putting, say, 28 or more on the board.
HOWEVER, Andrew Luck is as smart as they come, and sneaky good at extending plays. With the addition of Richardson, the offense has a spark they didn't have before, and he's a better blocking RB than most give credit for. I'm not sure they can match 28 on the board by Russ & Co though, against that stout Seadderall defense.
I'm going with Seattle ... for now. I may revisit this later....I dunno why.

DET @ GB
Early bye weeks often suck, especially later in the year when OTHER guys are hurt and could use a week off. That said, Green Bay was down to ONE player at the RB position at the end of the Bengals game. ONE.
Green Bay's suspect at best D is still the big question mark. I'm not too worried about the Packers offense under Aaron, although at times he makes it look silly easy, I keep sensing a frustration in Rodgers with the play-calling and oline.
Detroit...ahhh, the Loins. Now that they actually have a running game, they're starting to scare me a little. The tissue-paper secondary puts out like the proverbial Drunken Prom Date though, and while this years' oline is better than years past, that's really damning with faint praise.
At the end of the day, you can still only triple cover Megatron while he catches 10 passes for 140 yards and multiple touchdowns for so long before Bush gallops off to another 100+ yard game. They'll put up points, but they'll give up even more to #12.

NO @ CHI
I'm surprised to see Chicago's oline playing as well as they have. When Cutler isn't running for his life, he can be a pretty decent QB. Plus, Forte is a badass, and Brandon Marshall is too damn big to overstate. Add in an opportunistic defense that isn't quite as good as it used to be but is still relatively solid and you have a recipe for success.
Except against elite-caliber offenses. New Orleans just has so many weapons, and Breesus is Breesus. While the soggy turf at Soldier will slow them down, I just don't know if the bears D can keep enough New Orleans points off the board. As long as they don't kick it to Hester, the Aints *should* come out just a little bit ahead.

PHI @ NYG
Only in the NFC East can you be 0-4 and have a single win bring you to within one game of first in your division, which is what will happen when Dallas gets curbstomped by Peypey later today. Well, *could* happen, if the Giants actually got their shiat together and beat Philly at home.
I'm inclined to think that Coughlin's experience at coaching with this team will have them play best when they need it most, which would be right about now to keep from falling to 0-5. Coupled with the relative INexperience of the coach on the opposite sideline, at least.
But they haven't just been bad, they've played very bad. Dumpster fire bad. Almost Jacksonville Bad. And while The Chip Kelly Experience hasn't been pretty, it also hasn't been THAT bad. I'll take the Eagles in back-and-forth, low scoring, retardathon game.
Sunday Afternoon

CAR @ ARI
In a fairly simple equation, I have Arizona playing well, and much better than last year, and still coming up just a little bit short here. Carolina, particularly on defense, just has too much oomph. They tackle too well and, lets face it, will cause the opposing offense nightmares. When the other offense doesn't have much firepower beyond a single player, its pretty easy.
Vegas agrees, with the Panthers roughly 2.5 point favorites in Glendale.
DEN @ DAL
I don't believe I really need to type much out here. Right now I think I'd pick the Broncos to beat pretty much anybody anywhere, with the possible exception of @ Seattle. And even that is a maybe.
Look, Peyton is ballin' right now, noone else is even close, and the defense at his back is good enough to keep opposing point totals lower. Only the best of the best would have a good shot at taking the Broncos right now, and the Cowboys simply aren't that good. Most of the league isn't, at this point.

SD @ OAK
A farking midnight game? Really? As if this game couldn't get more irrelevant for the east coast.
Anyhow, Matt Flynn is getting a ton of money to be a third stringer. Again. The Chargers should take this one fairly easily, since Oakland really isn't all that good at the moment. Even Vegas has them up by 5 as the visiting team. It really isn't that San Diego is that good, it is equal amounts of Oakland being pretty meh overall. Without Pryor in the lineup, they are too easy to contain. We'll see if he makes it back in the game this week, or if the new #2 QB (a rookie, I might add) gets the nod.
Sunday Night
HOU @ SF
Pick whichever Shaub joke you'd like and run with it.
At the end of the day, SF's superior oline will be the difference. These are two very capable squads with some scary good players, but the Niners' domination at the line will let them grind the clock and control the tempo. When Shaub does have the ball, the SF D is more than capable of frustrating his offense and forcing mistakes & 3-and-outs.
I see a fairly solid SF thumping. I'd also advise people to stay the hell away from JJ Watt after halftime.

Monday Night
NYJ @ ATL
The time may come when Geno Smith is a solid starting QB. That time isn't now, though. He's still growing, and still makes frustrating mistakes. The D at his back is good, but not good enough to keep all of Atlanta's weapons from moving the chains and lighting up the scoreboard.
I'm still not sold on Atlanta. Yes they have weapons and will put points up. But I just don't get that feeling from them. They're a good team, but they don't scare me the way a Denver does. I'll go with the Failcons to win, but that's only because they're playing the J E S T at home.

2013-10-03 08:32:21 PM
Nice series Browns

2013-10-03 08:33:22 PM
I think it's clear neither team will win this game. One team will lose, but that's about it.

2013-10-03 08:34:13 PM
The penalty flags are pink?  Because of course they are.

2013-10-03 08:34:16 PM
Hey, maybe one day we'll even get a link to talk about a former first-round pick who's started for several years at quarterback GETTING CUT MIDSEASON.

Nah, that wouldn't be a story.

Trickeration! Fail. Pink flag!

For a second, I thought my color was screwed, and then I remembered breast cancer awareness with those flags.

TD Bills!

Cheering for the Bills, but not sure I can agree with that DPI call.

Go Bills!

/TD Fred Jackson!

2013-10-03 08:37:03 PM
It appears I made a good call on getting beer for this game.

With any luck, i'll be passed the fark out before the 4th quarter.

2013-10-03 08:37:22 PM
They did some prostate cancer awareness flags at the local flag football games, but they made them really light blue, so they kinda look like handkerchiefs and they really don't stand out at all. So pink flags are still better than that, I suppose.

2013-10-03 08:37:31 PM
So the Bills have 3.5 points per yard of offense...

2013-10-03 08:38:15 PM
The hell is Greg Little doing returning anyway?

2013-10-03 08:38:42 PM
C'mon you Bills!  I'm more impressed with their latest draft every week. Manuel, Woods and Alonso may be the best 3 picked by any team in quite a while.

2013-10-03 08:38:44 PM
Ok Browns special teams what's the definition of insanity?

I didn't have TF at the time. I would've!

Surprised the actual football itself is not pink.

NEXT NAME ON THE JERSEY, PLEASE!

2013-10-03 08:41:08 PM
That is such a Cleveland Browns thing to happen.  Poor Hoyer.

The Brian Hoyer era is over

I'll stick with Irvin, Wagner, Wilson.
