If something that trivial annoys you, then you have no business working with middle school kids.

optikeye: Give it 2 weeks, they'll forget it.

And yet the good ones don't stay. Like the one where R Lee Ermey plays a psychiatrist. THAT WAS FUNNY.

Instead we get the implication that your girlfriend's a slut and will bone a tiny pig over bad easy listening if you don't buy their insurance.

JohnAnnArbor: The part of the commercial that's funny is the resignation of the office workers to humoring the camel.  They sigh, they try to ignore, they know what's coming up, they can't stop it, *sigh* .  There's always that guy in the office.  It's just that, in this case, it's that camel.

that's the point. The look on that woman's face when she says "It's hump day" and the camel goes 'what what?!" Gold.

Which one, there's like 30 annoying Geiko commercials. Then there's the other company with that obnoxious coont Flo.

leadmetal: ubermensch: CSB: I dropped my GEICO insurance and went with a more expensive company because I hated those annoying caveman commercials. I haven't regretted that decision once.

And you changed before you found out why GEICO is cheaper.
Car and Driver I think it was used to tell the tales of the evil of GEICO decades ago. Are they still relevant today? Don't know. Won't go with GEICO to find out either.

This.  My experience with them was so bad that I actually once talked my worst enemy out of going with them.  Funny commercials, though.

puckrock2000: Yeah, they'll lose interest in a few weeks, just like with this annoying catchphrase.

You have to give the creators credit though. I'll remember the brand associated with that series or commercials forever. And I don't even drink their beer.

Same with Geico, Allstate, Farmers and to a lesser degree Afflack. Flo (Progressive) is forgettable.

I'd say that insurance companies have some of the most recently memorable commercials.

skullkrusher: that commercial was pretty funny until you've seen it 500 times. Of course, if you've seen a commercial 500 times you should probably watch less TV

It's a GEICO commercial, you could see it 500 times by watching one hour of TV a day through its life cycle.

Apik0r0s: They banned singing of Another Brick in the Wall when I was in middle school. Everybody was singing it, and it led to some sort of doomed Renaissance of self-delusion that culminated in a hundred photocopies of a somewhat violent remake of The Declaration of Independence being spread all over school.

While the school doesn't ban it, my son has a history of line walking and is now forbidden from making any South Park references in class. He's now in middle school. When he was in elementary school, we got a call from his teacher about his Canada Week project. "Incredibly misinformed" I believe were her words. Thanks South Park.

South Park isn't really something elementary school age kids should be watching imo. ymmv

jutm543: If they're blurting something out in class, then good, send them to the principal's office, who gives a damn what they're saying.

If you're sending them to the principal for repeating a commercial to each other in the hallways, gas yourself.

Seems simple enough.

Maybe the society you are making will suck.  Maybe we want a society were kids aren't automatons.

Geico is a terrible insurance provider.  All that money for commercials comes from somewhere.

It's depressing how many people watch commercials like they're TV shows. Commercials are to be ignored and ff'd through. Even the ones I had a hand in.

That commercial is better than 95% of the shows airing theses days.
I happen to like the geico ads, but I have a weird sense of humor.
My favorite one is the old man saying its sexy grandpa time and singing, I'm not yur daddy I'm yur grandpa...lol

If it's not this it'll be something else.  I was a lifeguard when 'Back to School' came out and all summer long EVERY little kid that jumped off the diving board did the armpit fart/thumb-lick/wind-check before jumping.  I don't think half of them even knew what they were imitating; it just became the thing to do.  And for some reason it annoyed the crap out of me.
