Oh, so sad. Now who will sell fake LV, Prada, and Gucci handbags laid out on blankets on the streets of Florence, Venice, and Rome???

CygnusDarius: valar_morghulis: What is it with Italy and shipwrecks?

Even since Roman times, Italians have been lousy with ships.

Yeah, nevermind the Venetian, Genoese, and Pisan empires/republics.

I mean really, Venice basically had an assembly line for ships that Henry Ford would be envious of.

CygnusDarius: fusillade762: a particular individual: FTA: "A boat carrying as many as 500 people capsized and caught fire..."

In that order.

It then sank into the swamp.

So they built another boat, over the boat.

...and that sank into the swamp.

Not to be raciest but if I find my boat captain is Italian I'm getting off.

DirtyDeadGhostofEbenezerCooke: According to Italian media reports, the vessel sank near Rabbit Beach, also known as Rabbit Island, which was recently voted one of the best beaches in the world by Trip Advisor.

Let's go see what's washed up on the beach!

Nothing like a beach barbecue!

But the fourth one...

I think their rating might go down a few spots if any of those refugees get a signal to their iPads.

No! You'll marry the princess of Sweden! She's beautiful, she's rich, she's got huge... tracts of land.

I'm not understanding.  The Cubans had no choice, seeing as the ISLAND wasn't somehow connected by any sort of LAND to the destination.... unlike EUROPE and EURASIA with AFRICA, which are all connected, which can be used as ... oh, I don't know, a LANDBRIDGE, albeit a very round about way to get there, it'd be much safer.

/long way round, you're still on land, so noless chance of drowning
//crap that bad they are using boats to cross the Med?
///why hasn't the international community done anything?

They will care, just not about the refugees just how it affects them . Comment sections on this are filled with first world problems derp about how they're coming to take our jerbs and sponge off our benefits and we need to figure out how to stop them and turn them right back. What a dream it is being a penniless refugee from a war-torn shiathole, they just can't wait to come over and inconvenience you.

Well, technically you have to cross water to get over the Suez Canal...and probably the Bosporus as well unless you're completely farking crazy and want go from Egypt to Italy via the Caucuses and Ukraine.

That still requires you to go through Syria and/or Iraq, a war zone, and the Balkans, home of a wild and uncivilized people who nail Muslims' hats to their heads.  Personally, I'd take my chances on the boat ride.
