dahmers love zombie: OK, I'm sure someone's been watching the entire season and can tell me this:  Not mathematically, just your gut feeling, what are the chances we'll see the Rays and the Cardinals in the Series?  Being a born St. Louisian but a lifelong Floridian, that would be a unique Series for me -- I could root for both sides. Never, ever had that happen before.

Honestly as good as any other matchup, really. Baseball playoffs are a funny thing that way. My personal prediction is As-Dodgers.

Same here. Grew up in Illinois but lived in Florida for over 20 years.

Cards have been streaky but solid. The played really strong to finish the season. If Lance Lynn pitches well, they may be hard to beat.
Not sure about the Rays save they finished the year much the same as the Pirates. Strong finish and won their wild card game.

Gut tells me St.Louis and Detroit. Tampa has a tough row to hoe.

Also the Card's bullpen has been its weak point. If the bullpen doesn't fark up. I like their chances.

So what in the holy hell of all hells happened to Mujica?  Dude was the best closer in the game and then went Full Ankiel.

Which you never should do.

Essentially a picture perfect outing by the Cardinals all around.

Pittsburgh...well, welcome to the big stage boys.  Three errors...yeesh.  I expect they'll rebound, but I'm not sure they can win this series against the Cardinals with the way both teams have been playing the last month.  I think it's Cards in 4, with Liriano owning the Cardinals in Game 3 like he has all season.

I would love for that to happen. As an A's fan living in SoCal, I need some 1988 redemption.

Why the do you use Rosenthal who's now the defacto closer in this situation?

Probably needs the work and could pitch again tomorrow if needed with Saturday being an off day for travel.

Finally the playoffs have started!  I'm glad that Boston gets that first round bye.

2013-10-03 08:09:47 PM
So that's that.  On the plus side, the final doesn't look like a football score.  On the minus side, that's because the NFL rulebook doesn't allow teams to score only a single point.  Hopefully the Bucs have better luck tomorrow.

That's exactly it. He hasn't pitched since Friday.

Bad news, man: if you lose in Tampa Bay, you lose in real life.

I am convinced that the reason they have not won more World Series rings is because that Chop Chant actually lulls them to sleep.Kind of like that study they did years ago regarding the police cars in England. They said the sound of the siren drone would put the Bobbys into a state of unalertness when they arrived at the crime scene.Hence getting shot.

Warlordtrooper: So where's the football thread

There's a couple of them in the queue, but none of them have been greenlit.

On Thursdays and Mondays, depending on who's at the switch, NFL threads sometimes need to be submitted weeks in advance in order to even get a chance at a greenlight by gametime.

That's very helpful. :-P

OK, how's this - I want the Pirates to win the World Series - assuming they can come back against the Cardinals in their series, who would they stand a better chance of beating in the NLCS?

Also, the Bills are already up 7-0 with about two minutes gone, so lol Cleveland.

I wonder if Medlen is going to get any heat for putting in a chew right before he took the field...he did a good job of obscuring it from the camera but it was pretty obvious as to what he was doing.

And Hoyer could be dead. So that'll make the game even less exciting, if that's at all possible.

Is Medlen gonna pitch like that all month? 'Cause if he is, the answer is much easier

Not to defend this, but it's my understanding that the traffic's so bad to that stadium through the week, even Sherman couldn't get there by game time.

How in the ever-loving F*CK do they leave Uggla off the NLDS roster for not hitting well, and B.J. "dog it in the field and swing at everything thrown" Upton is on it?

Needed more defensive help in the OF, and a pinch runner late

I have watched nearly every Braves game this season. He's a defensive liability in the OF. He cannot even catch the easy ones. I guess he could be a pinch runner, but I don't ever remember seeing him hustle or run hard.
