I hate to start Caturday off on a downer, but for those of you not in the Facebook caturday group, Mandu went over the bridge on Tuesday. I am very sad but also relieved that his suffering is over. I think I have been mourning him for the past week when I could see that he was losing his fight against the liver disease. He is normally around 12.5 to 13 lb. When I took him in to the vet for the first time in August, he was down to about 12. A few weeks later for a recheck and he was down to 11 (even with feeding him 4-5 times a day). When they weighed him yesterday (for the drug) he was down to 9.5. We still don't know what started it all, but he wasn't going to come out of it. I had him for 9 years which is a short time for a cat, but he crammed a lot of loving in those years. He also crammed in a lot of goofyness and trouble. This cat actually managed to break an almost unbreakable Corelle plate! I miss you already, sweetie, but you will live on in my screenname on Fark and elsewhere.

I used up almost all of Mandu's care fund and what little was left is going to pay for Mika to get her first exam and shots in 3 years next week. We still don't know what triggered Mandu to stop eating so I want to rule out anything that may be catching. I hope everyone is OK with this. If there is any left, it will definitely get paid forward.

One favor: I plan to get this to store his ashes in. (I have one for Earl and one for Abby too) and need a photo for the top. Can someone with photoshop skills fix his eyes to remove the low-beam lasers? EIP if you don't want to clog up the thread.

QJ, how is Mom this week???? I've been thinking about you guys.... :D

Thanks for the thoughts.
I went to her doctors office Wednesday and explained my situation.
With her being off her thyroid meds for so long, they wanted a blood test.
So, they wrote an order for a blood test to check her thyroid hormone levels.
.
I never came up with a way to break it to her that I had done all this and fretted about how
I was going to get it done.

She woke up hungry this morning and told me she wanted to go out for some bacon and eggs.
After we had eaten, I simply took her to the lab and when she asked where we were and
why we were there, I told her that she was supposed to get some blood drawn today.
That satisfied her, so I got her in there a quickly as possible and got it drawn.

She just now, as I was typing this, asked me what they were going to do with the
blood they drew this morning. I have no idea how long it will take to get results back.

Sorry to hear about Mandu. It always hurts to let a friend go no matter how long they have been with us. 18months,
18 years or somewhere in between they always seem to pack in the love and affection that will live on after they have gone.

Good for you getting the blood drawn.(and getting her to the lab . . . great thinking!) I hope that things aren't too bad but maybe this will be enough to get her back on her meds.

The older my Mom got the more agoraphobic she got. If you mentioned she had an appt later in the week she would work herself up to a panic attack by appt day. Eventually I would just show up in the morning and tell her what we were doing that day. She would usually proceed to tell me what a horrible child I was but she would go to the appt with no problem.
Meanwhile my sister was the golden child because she didn't have to deal with it , just show up and do her shopping for her.
