First a kidnapping then she can't play volleyball? What's next? Getting the wrong ice cream?

"Parents think the rules shouldn't apply to their snowflake, are upset to find out they do."

Instead of biatching and moaning to a general public (that doesn't give a damn about you or your child), how about you learn a lesson from this and follow the rules next time?

2013-10-03 02:27:04 PM
But her school has a policy that requires student athletes to dress up on game days to show their school pride, and Dezi didn't

So she didn't follow the rules that were laid out before hand and had to suffer the consequences that she was aware of as a result?

Horror.

What the fark does getting kidnapped have to do with it? If it's a bad rule it's a bad rule, if it's not it's not, but it's not like they passed this rule and said "oh, this only applies to kids who were kidnapped sex offenders haha fark you".

2013-10-03 02:27:10 PM
Her mother says, considering all Dezi went through, the school should be willing to bend the rules a little.

How about no.  You can play in the next game if you can manage to follow the dress code.

2013-10-03 02:28:28 PM
Oh, and I love how the crux of the whiny biatch mother's argument is basically "my kid just wants to get back to normal, so you should treat her differently"

STFU you dumb coont.

2013-10-03 02:28:40 PM
That little biatch! Who does she think she is?!?
She should have worn a shirt with a giant dildo graphic on the front, to show her feelings of support for the school system executives.

My daughter just wants to get back to normal. Why wont you give her special treatment?!

I think that the school's policy of requiring student athletes to dress up on gameday is stupid as fark.

Also, the mother thinking that the rules don't apply to her daughter is stupid as fark as well.

You know who else wanted everyone to dress up to show their spirit on the big day?

I fail to see what one incident has to do with the other.

She wore shorts and a long sleeved shirt. So she was sidelined.

I agree with the school's decision. I hate the long sleeve shirt and shorts look. I also endorse the immediate firing of any man who wears dress shoes with jeans.

So now everything she does is part of her therapy. Must be a tax write-off by the parents.

She was kidnapped, her friend was murdered, can't give her one tiny little break?  She's not asking for a new car, straight A's, or even a day off.  Some of you people are seriously messed up in the head with this whole "precious snowflake" crap.  I don't know if a helicopter parent ran over your dog or something, but learn to relax would you?

And you know what I'll do about it?  I'll call the news, so her name and the fact that she had been kidnapped will get splashed all over the local paper again and eventually make its way to a national news aggregator!  That'll really help her get back to normal!

2013-10-03 02:40:06 PM
Seriously, though.  This kid has already suffered plenty because of someone who wouldn't follow the rules, i.e. the rules to not kidnap and murder young girls.  I would think it would be worse for her to feel like no adult around her believes in following the rules.

FTFA: "...her school has a policy that requires student athletes to dress up on game days to show their school pride"

In other words, appropriate clothing must be purchased from a "school kick-back approved", um, I mean "school approved vendor".Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's...

Both my sons were Varsity HS Athletes.  They had to dress up on game days, funny everyone on the team had no problem with that.  Button down shirts, a tie and nice pants were required.

2013-10-03 02:50:48 PM
I read the article to see the reason WHY the girl didn't (or couldn't) follow the rules.  Are her parents poor and unable to purchase appropriate clothes?  Were her only dress pants in the wash?  Is the girl so mentally challenged by the kidnapping that she only wants to wear a certain outfit every day?

Yeah, I'd have thought that, too.... but then you get to the last paragraph of the article and it's like :/

I went to a school where all of the kids didn't have the ability to put together a huge wardrobe. Our athletes had to wear a shirt and tie on game days too and it was a real burden and a source of embarassment for a few kids. Not saying they shouldn't have rules. Just saying, sometimes these rules have unintended consequences.

So what is more likely:

1) That she came to school completely dressed out-of-whack and this is just another incident in this terrible girl expecting to be treated differently due to the terrible murder of her friend from which she escaped.

2) She put on shorts and a long sleeve shirt because it's friday and she's 13, and was told that this was unacceptable. However, rather than a simple warning for next time, it's "you aren't allowed to play because we are wrong-headed public educators, we will never bend on our wrong headedness, and also you're lower middle class so go fark yourself".

Your pick.

There is a ton of hate here for a girl who was kidnapped and whose friend was murdered. Take a step back, let go of your petty spite and have some human decency. I know this is the Internet, but you don't have to be an asshole just to look cool or make fun of people of what ever it is that motivates this amount of rancor. It sort of makes me sick.

Perhaps wearing the clothes she's comfortable in make her feel normal too. Not some garish retarded school issued AW "RA RA SIS BOOM BAH!!" bullsh*t.

I hated school/sports uniform stuff and I never even got raped.

Neither, the rules are the rules, if you are on a team the dress code is clearly stated.  It is part of being a member of a team.  Horrible things happen to good people, but that doesn't mean the rules are dropped because of that.  If volleyball is helping her get over the experience, well and good, but getting upset because she can't follow a very simple and noninvasive rule is silly

In my town it is a shirt, tie and nice pants, nothing garish.  When I went to the same shhool, a suit coat was also required.  So they have lightened up here.  Nothing garish, nothing school related.

To be be clear, I have no hate for the 13 year old girl at all. The fail is on the part of the media attention that this for some reason requires.

So if throwing a beer bash for her team mates makes her happy, everyone should look the other way?

Glad you are part of her health care team. Meeting a dress code is not that life altering.

Nor did she qapparently have a note from a health care professional saying she can wear whatever she wants, if that was part of the therapy, she could ask for one and get one.

No, not at all, nor am I enraged.  A nonissue that gets unwarranted press time.  I'm sorry for her ordeal, but a return to normalcy requires doing normal expected things.  All I did was make an observation and stated an opinion.  You all are allowed yours.  However, I am secure enough that I don't need to add personal attacks against those that don't agree.
