(Entertainment Weekly)   You know that Paula Deen dish where she takes a healthy portion of Trayvon Martin and mixes in a gratuitous splash of George Zimmerman? No? Well, SVU's about to feed it to you   (popwatch.ew.com) divider line 29

Of course it's fictitious. That's too crazy to ever happen in real life.

SVU is so past its prime it isn't funny any more.  It's a trainwreck.

Lol!!! I agree; I think this season may be Olivia's last one personally.

The marathons that USA network runs usually have the oldies-but-goodies. My 16 month old will "dance" when the older SVU theme is played; he loves him some SVU.

Tapered off at season 11? Maybe 10?

Anyone else remember the writer strike.....and absolutely nothing changed.

Writing for that show has to be the most soul crushing experience.  I have to imagine when things like the Ariel Castro event come out, they sit there going, "well there's one episode in the bag."  Then having to study the case so they can alter it just enough to keep it fresh and entertaining

I really wish they would bring back the original Law and Order and take that SVU crap off the air. Seriously, how many episodes can you make about rape and child molesters before it gets farking stale?

2013-10-03 05:33:23 PM
Although they have backed off some on the obligatory squad-room discussion 40 minutes in where each character voices a different opinion on the topic of the day, all very after school special like.

What kind of sick bastard writes an episode like that?

You let your baby watch SVU? That's way, way too graphic for a kid that age. Really you should be showing him reruns of the original series (at least after Lennie joined the cast), then maybe seguing into Criminal Intent and saving SVU for when it's time for The Talk and let Elliot and Olivia take care of that for you.

Shame the last few seasons didn't get better ratings as I thought they were pretty underrated.

I can't wait until the SVU writers get so tired of ripping stories from the headlines that they go full circle and somebody unironically pitches the idea of writing a groundbreaking new episode completely from...the imagination!

TV needs a good counter to this shiat. Like bring back the L Word, subtract 50% of the drama, and at least double the sex. That would be a show that keeps viewers coming back for more.

Yes please: What kind of sick bastard writes an episode like that?

I think they were taking plot lines from the Fark Trayvon/Zimmerman threads - the posts from "Team Trayvon" farkers in particular, along with a healthy dose of input from Al Sharpton.

Then they decided to crank the derp to 11.

In all seriousness, that's about what I did. I watched L&O as a kid and then SVU in high school, although my friend who watched was a bit scarred by it and eventually decided to stop. Took longer to get into Criminal Intent.

My favorite part is where the article tries to say that the episode references "Blurreed Lines" because the rapist says "I know you want it."

Look. I get that people want to defend that song. But if you find yourself trying to insist that a rapist on SVU saying "I know you want it" is a reference to anything other than a rapist rapin', you clearly aren't watchin enough USA marathons.

/"come here baby, you smell goooood" by the disabled child is my favorite line ever
//and anything said by Ice T
///like it much better without Stabler, his macho paternal thing was getting so repetitive and boring

"About to". Subby took so long to come up with that headline they switched tenses.

The lady that shot that guy in the episode was 100% right.  She was a racist though.  But, you tell a motherfarker to stop, they don't, they die.  STAND YOUR GROUND!!  How's that hell thing working out for ya Trayvon?????

Same with my daughter!  She's 2-and-a-half now, and she's kinda grown out of it, but when she was younger, she would dance every single time.  It was so cute!

I dunno.... you could write a rapist to say lots of creepy shiat, and the SVU writers seem to have no originality.

Lol!!! He also enjoys the theme to "Cops" and "The First 48."

He also loves Longmire, to which I greatly approve of.

Doc Martin, Masterpiece Mystery! and Mickey Mouse on Nick Jr are also dance time/watch time. God he loves Doc Martin.

Saw it last nite. Definitely shamefully transparent exploitation. Then again, this is not the first time Wolf & Co. have strayed into "you're not helping" territory.

It's a lib show. What do you expect?
