I didn't even know they were remaking Ironside. They could probably remaster the original, put it on primetime, and get better ratings.

It was okay. Nothing spectacular but decent. Light years better than the Criminal Minds episode I had to endure just before Ironside.

That's really too bad, because there just aren't enough crime shows on TV.

Why don't they re-cast the lead with literally anyone else?

Or come up with something original?

When the original Ironsides program was on? I thought it sucked donkey dyck (I had to watch it as I kept my Grandma company)....... But .... Compared to "Reality TV?" This was incredible entertainment........ Yeah.... That isn't saying much

The original show was miles better than the remake.  For one, the original Ironside actually delegated work and also made brilliant deductions which he shared with the police.  He also wasn't all PTSD messed up still, at least all the time.  Christ, the remake played it up like this guy can't spend two minutes waiting for a Hot Pocket to microwave without having at least one flashback.

Really though, the problem with the remake is that they're trying to let the premise carry the show without putting in any effort on the plots, characters, or setting.  Underwood's Ironside has all the interpersonal skills of Dr. House with none of the charm, wit, or intelligence.  The most interesting character on the show is the investment banker turned cop who steadfastly refuses to explain how that happened or why.  It's just a disaster all around and I'm looking forward to watching it fail spectacularly.

Did they at least keep the original funky Quincy-Jones-composed theme song?

I thought it an odd choice for a reboot. There's not a huge amount of Ironsides nostalgia floating around, from what I can see.

Black and handi-capable. If they'd made him gay they'd have hit the "look how diverse we are here at NBC!"  trifecta.

I started to watch that show but it started off with the most stupid hackneyed cliche possible for a TV cop show so I stopped watching.

I'm 37 years old and had no idea there used to be a show called Ironside.  And I thought 18-34 was the prize age demographic.  How old is the show?

1967-1975... so, being born in 1976, obviously understandable.   It was never rerun much, and doesn't have the notoriety of other old shows.

And obviously Burr was much more well known for Perry Mason.

They should remake Seeing Things. If you're going to make another goddamn crime show, why not add a bit of comedy and fantasy in to the mix, Jason Alexander would be a good Louis.

we used to watch Criminal Minds all the time, but they are fading away from it these days.  They just seem to try to out freak themselves every week.  It used to be that we thought "Wow, that's really creepy!"  Now it's "that's some farked-up shiat!  Find something else to watch."

The Criminal Minds last night was part 2. It was gross for gross sake rather than creepy. And HORRIBLE acting.

Most of the L&O shows.. other than some minor tiff's, I don't know that that didn't apply to most of the characters... plenty of even current TV shows where the cops are pretty sane, and the "story" is about the bad guys, not about the cops problems.

When I saw the trailer a few weeks ago, I was all, "Oh no...they're updating Ironsides."  When the title showed at the end, facepalm.  Whoever greenlit that show should be put in a wheelchair, if only for not giving the part to Patrick Warburton.

They tried remaking that a few years ago with Ed O'Neill in the Jack Webb role.  It failed miserably.
