See, this is why liberals don't get what they want.

They need to support a left wing tea party analogue that's willing to shut down everything if they don't get what they want.

They need a liberal president Madagascar.

Any one else get their hackles up when they read this paragraph:

FTFA:
He enraged colleagues further by refusing to repudiate his attack dogs at the Senate Conservatives Fund who savaged Republicans. A Senate source tells Right Turn, "Cruz
got the brunt, but Lee too." Perhaps most shocking, no senator, according to three GOP sources, rose in their defense. They have, to be blunt, been repudiated by a newly united GOP caucus. One Senate aide said, "I  don't think Sen. Cruz entered that meeting with a thick skin, but he left learning he needs one going forward, along with a strategy."

The underlined part switched fonts from a serif font to sans serif - font mixing always irks me.

I disagree. We are looking at the next Republican Presidential Front Runner.

If he isn't a front runner, he has enough followers to force all the other candidates to swing right.  2016 will be like 2012.

His front runner status will last just as long as Perry's did, with the added benefit of the above statement.

I know one. He is soo. Much fun to fark with. When you prove him wrong or show him how idiotic he is being, he claims it was satire. For example, he posted an article about how the Kentucky militia stopped russian soldiers with DHS uniforms hauling a Humvee with a DHS paint job. There was a side article about how Fartbongo sold all of our national parks to the UN based on a plaque someone saw. He claimed it was satire.

He also thinks his fat ass and his AR-15 could take on trained, heavily armed UN troops, or at least be able to take out a few of them before they get him.

Its pure comedy gold every single day.

Wow, Rubin is working really hard to make Cruz look like an outlier. Except it's not going to work. The problem is the House, specifically, House Republicans. The debt ceiling has to be permanently removed from the table. If the budget a higher amount than comes in, the debt limit will have to rise automatically, or taxes will have to go up to cover it.

The Rube has had some hilarious columns this week. She's always good for a laugh when the party is in the process of shooting itself in the foot.

I am surprised she didn't take a sentence or two to plug for Governor Krispy Kreme. If she still has a job in a couple years, I fully expect to be reading his press releases being passed off as Jen's daily columns.

Corvus: You can't pull a move like this unless you have people 100% lined up. Going into this the GOP were already saying this was dumb where the Democrats were unified (for once in history).

Now more cracks are showing. The Republicans who were told to do this are already getting cold feet and trying to find a way out by finding anything to save face. The Democrats should just wait, not give the Republicans their first way to retreat and make them pay the price so they don't do this shiat again.

In the past Democrats gave Republicans the easy way out after the GOP painted themselves in a corner, they have to stop doing that and make them pay a price so they will actually stop doing it.

For example not just give them the tax on medical equipment, they should ask for the small hand full of change to Obamacare that they also want. Which would also make Republicans on record for voting for something for Obamacare too.

The problem is many Democrats want to do their job. Which is running the country, not sticking it to the opposition. And the best thing for the country is to give the Republicans an easy way out. If you pin them in a corner, they will all fight tooth and nail. But gove them a way out to save some face and you will end the squabble muach more easily (that said, I would push for the debt ceiling to be resolved at the same time so we aren't in the same place a little while later).

sendtodave: dywed88: Weaver95: Cruz isn't completely stupid...he has to know that his party will sell him out in an instant to save themselves from a howling mob of pissed off voters.

Cruz was betting on two things:

1) Democrats caving
2) Massive public backlash against the Democrats.

Neither of which was a good bet and neither appears to be paying off.

I don't think he is stupid. I think it is similar to Romney's people (who were also not stupid) buying into the hype and honestly thinking they were the ones with the advantage. The GOP, and the Tea Party in particular, rely far more heavily on controlling the message. Unfortunately they are buying into the line they are trying to sell to the public based on reactions from the base.

I would say that the people that voted for him blame the democrats.

So, there's that.

Yes, and those are the only people they hear. Along with the belief in the large number of people who really support them but just don't know it it makes them buy into the belief that that have widespread support from all but the libbiest libs.

2013-10-03 06:52:48 PM
Wow, Republicans are desperate to throw a body to the wolves, aren't they?

Hey, GOP windsock assholes, where were you when some of your braver members attempted to stage a "coup" and get the Senate bill to the floor? Oh, right, you were sniffing the asses of the teabaggers with the fattest campaign coffers, hoping to get a whiff of that lovely conservative pie, weren't you?

Fark you. Ted Cruz is an asshole, yes, but so is Boehner, Cantor, and the rest of the GOP wannabe "crusaders" that went along with this shiat since January. You don't get a pass, assholes, just because you're now pointing at Cruz and going "it's all about him, really - he made us look really, really bad!"

And while you're busily wiping the stink of your fellow conspirator off your face, we're still out of work, you bastards!

Lord_Baull: Read an article in CNN that said basically Cruz has backed Boehner into a corner. NOBODY PUTS BOEHNER IN A CORNER!

Boehner has largely lived in a corner since he got the gig as Speaker.  He never had leadership skills, would toe the line to keep his job and always had aspirations to be nothing more than a career politician.

At the beginning of last session the Tea Partiers nominated anyone they could think of BUT him and it was a huge insult.  He's been a shell of a man and arguably even more impotent since then.

He can't wrangle his caucus which makes him, largely, bad at his job.

I could have told them that this would be their reaction, soon after the shutdown.  I have difficulty feeling any sympathy for them.  Cruz is crazy.  They are stupid.  If you could listen to all of the rightwing hype about how 2012 would "take back Murca," and see Ham-Rove throwing flop-sweat in all directions on election night as the GOP got kicked to the curb, if you could see 41 votes to repeal Obamacare go down in flames, and still not get it, then you are a special kind of willful stupid.  The only possible treatment I can think of to try to help coax you out of the stupid is to do a five-season guest appearance on "Ow, My Balls."

Shostie: Car_Ramrod: "It was very evident to everyone in the room that Cruz doesn't have a strategy - he never had a strategy, and could never answer a question about what the end-game was," an unnamed senator told Politico. "I just wish the 35 House members that have bought the snake oil that was sold could witness what was witnessed today at lunch."

At one point in the meeting, Republicans pressed Cruz to tell them what he would have done had the party united behind his call to filibuster a House-passed continuing resolution to keep the defunding hopes alives. Only 19 Republicans backed Cruz's attempt to block the bill.

"He kept trying to change the subject because he never could answer the question," the anonymous senator said. "It's pretty evident it's never been about a strategy - it's been about him. That's unfortunate. I think he's done our country a major disservice. I think he's done Republicans a major disservice."

Christ, no one likes Ted Cruz. How the hell did he get elected, let alone become a figurehead?

If things went as planned, he should have been kicked out in the primary. But the Texas redistricting lawsuit happened. They couldn't agree on interim maps in time for the planned Texas GOP primary, so the primary was pushed back a few months. This gave Cruz, who was lagging in the polls by a large margin, enough time to turn the derp up to 11 and attract the support of tea party groups. When the primary came around, he crushed his opponent (Dewhurst, if I remember right). After that, it was largely one-sided campaign against a Democratic rival who's name no one could remember.

Ta-da.

Yep, that's exactly how it happened.

When he was elected, I told my husband he was going to do a lot of hurt to this country.

He just looks like a prick. He oozes the douche.
