Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: So I guess the money guys got to Jennifer Rubin and she wrote the article for them?  Usually she'd be all-in for Cruz.

Rubin is an expert at changing her "entrenched" beliefs once reality comes careening towards her. Read her pre-November 2012 "Romney is an Unstoppable Beast running a Flawless Campaign" columns days before the election and compare them with her "Romney is the worstiest worst candidate ever and ran an inept campaign" column tearing him apart just days after the election to see this at its finest.
If Rubin suddenly has reversed course and decides Cruz is toast, then it's over.

Corvus: You can't pull a move like this unless you have people 100% lined up. Going into this the GOP were already saying this was dumb where the Democrats were unified (for once in history).

Now more cracks are showing. The Republicans who were told to do this are already getting cold feet and trying to find a way out by finding anything to save face. The Democrats should just wait, not give the Republicans their first way to retreat and make them pay the price so they don't do this shiat again.

In the past Democrats gave Republicans the easy way out after the GOP painted themselves in a corner, they have to stop doing that and make them pay a price so they will actually stop doing it.

For example not just give them the tax on medical equipment, they should ask for the small hand full of change to Obamacare that they also want. Which would also make Republicans on record for voting for something for Obamacare too.

Thing is, this is clearly not the first utterly stupid thing the Republicans have done legislatively in the last several years.  They've been forced to vote against their own budget bills, fillibuster their own bills, and crap like that, because no one is doing any planning.

They're seat-of-their pants, but also tremendously awful.  But also utterly relentless.  There's no stopping them, it's like a perpetual motion machine of idiocy.

The government shutdown is just the latest, but there will be more.  I only hope we're not exponentially getting worse.

I'm agreeing.  She's useless.  But there's a whiff of something in this editorial.  The big guys are standing behind her and she's typing with one hand sort of thing.

HMS_Blinkin: skozlaw: Aw. Poor republicans. Teddy Cruz turned out to be just as big of an imbecilic blowhard as everyone else has been saying and you were the last to realize it? Poor babies.

You idiots hitched yourselves to this train as it was actively coming off the tracks. Enjoy the ride, assholes.

Yeah I find myself strangely unsympathetic.  We all saw this coming, and tried to warn them, but they wanted to ride the derp train anyway.  Fark 'em.

Oh goody we get to see a bunch more articles about how Republicans are grappling for answers after yet another political event backfires (see Benghazi, Romney presidency, etc.) Then we'll get to hear about how they are reinventing themselves...

Its almost as if someone who conserves (resistant to change) is unable to cope with the reality of a constantly changing world.

/ If only there was a party who embraced change and was able to progress forward...

Your right. I am assuming they are smart enough to learn from their mistakes which obviously they are not.

It would be hilarious, but farking morons like Cruz and the cretins who support him have the potential to do real damage to this country... Just pathetic.

God's Hubris: SnakeLee: Holy fark this is a Jennifer Rubin article?  Hahaha he is toast.  It's too bad because he was going to be funny in the primaries

I disagree. We are looking at the next Republican Presidential Front Runner.

If he isn't a front runner, he has enough followers to force all the other candidates to swing right.  2016 will be like 2012.

Not really necessary. Rubin is a GOP foot soldier and most of her articles are trying selling the party line. She rarely shows any kind of independent ideas. If she's going after Cruz it is because the party decided that he was out a while ago.

Yup.  We got them right where we want them.  No time to let up the pressure now.  Victory is imminent.  We've just got to want it more than they do.  KEEP UP THE PRESSURE TED!

Gonz: PawisBetlog: I was there for work during those primaries and the commentary and commercials were unbelievable. One guy on the radio said basically "Dewhurst isn't electable because in 2009 worked with Democrats on a bipartisan bill"

This is 100% accurate, if anyone who doesn't live in Texas has any doubt.

"He's backed bipartisan measures in the past, and he's been willing to work with Democrats." That was an attack ad.

Real Americans are fed up with those liberals on the hill. Democrat or republican.

2013-10-03 05:01:09 PM
Ted Cruz has run attack ads against other Republicans. When they asked him to stop he told them take a hike. He knows he's a hero to the idiots who voted for him. This is just the beginning of his reign of terror, he's going nowhere.

Considering that the "money guys" in this case are employed by Big Insurance, I'd tend to agree.
These Tea Nutters will be toast if they fark with ACA.
Hell, they probably already are toast.

Amen.

It's time to really look at our supporters and separate the wheat from the chaff.  I don't think we can tolerate any dissension in our ranks right now.  We've got to make sure that every vote, every voice is from a real real American.  I don't know, but reading through these threads, it seems that some of our supporters aren't really toeing the line, and show some squishiness right when we need certitude.

I, for one, am not afraid to start calling out the splitters in our midst!

Not like those Athenian boy lovers with their "logic."

Aah, it's nice to live in an age where right wing cranks throw tantrums big enough to furlough half of my friends. It's what they get for having useless government "jobs."

Weaver95: Cruz isn't completely stupid...he has to know that his party will sell him out in an instant to save themselves from a howling mob of pissed off voters.

Cruz was betting on two things:

1) Democrats caving
2) Massive public backlash against the Democrats.

Neither of which was a good bet and neither appears to be paying off.

I don't think he is stupid. I think it is similar to Romney's people (who were also not stupid) buying into the hype and honestly thinking they were the ones with the advantage. The GOP, and the Tea Party in particular, rely far more heavily on controlling the message. Unfortunately they are buying into the line they are trying to sell to the public based on reactions from the base.

I mean, think about it. Who were the rebels? Monarchists and religious types, trying to spread democracy by fighting a bland, faceless "new order" that made everyone dress the same.

So you think the tea party is guilty of believing their own press release? Hmm...I could see that. If so, then they're in serious trouble. The GOP establishment isn't liking Cruz and his tea buddies farking up the machinery and nit having any plans for cleaning up the mess.
