In April 2007, Rokita was speaking at a Republican event, and encouraged Republicans to reach out to African Americans. He mentioned 90 percent of African Americans vote Democratic, after which he asked, "How can that be? Ninety to ten. Who's the master and who's the slave in that relationship? How can that be healthy?"

/facepalm

Wow. I am sure as hell glad he's not my Congressman. Not that I wholly expect mine is THAT much better, but still...

Oboongocare is going to cost Brazzillions AND bRAZZILLIONS. Much more than the shutdown, a credit default, and this fully armed DeathStar COMBINED!

That is truly horribly, but you would be surprised at how prevalent that kind of thinking is in white folks in the great former home of the KKK that is IN.  "I'm not a racist but".  I've been told I'm a racist because I vote democrat and democrats support welfare which is a program designed to keep poor people poor, especially in minority urban areas.

I see there is no reason to take this man seriously. Anyone making that statement can immediately be placed into the "idiot" category.

Wow what a farking piece of trash. I am amazed a media member even fought back as much as Costello did there. She should have flipped him the bird after the beautiful comment though.

"I think most Americans would say fight that fight separate from the federal budget. Don't partially shut down the federal government, don't make things worse by fighting the same fight over and over," Costello argued.

Rokita responded, "No, you're part of the problem," prompting Costello to roll her eyes and scoff, "Ugh, come on. That's so easy."

"Carol, you're beautiful but you need to be honest as well," Rokita finally said, eliciting an eyebrow raise from Costello.

I just want to say I think this shutdown has finally broken me. Honestly, I'm done. I'm spent. fark these people. fark every last person designated as a Republican. fark every last person contributing to the conservative factions in this country. fark you. I hate all of you.

I've never wanted to just punch people in the face as much as I have the past couple days. It seems every article brings a new example of an elected GOPer being an unmitigated ass. I'm over it. Just all of it. fark you.

Worse than that law that allowed you to burn people alive for translating the bible?
Worse than the law that allowed you to kill a woman by having a bear rape her?
Worse than the law that allowed you to own another human being?
Worst than the law that allowed you to murder an entire race of people?

Well, yeah because a black man made this law. Duh.

They were profaning the word of God
Worse than the law that allowed you to kill a woman by having a bear rape her? Remember, there was no 4chan back then.
Worse than the law that allowed you to own another human being? Those fields weren't going to tend themselves, plus, they got food and shelter, that's like paying them.
Worst than the law that allowed you to murder an entire race of people? Hey, at the time, they weren't really considered people.

Any more questions?

What was that law that let people own black people as slaves and said slaves werent even human, that they were property?

Obamacare is worse than that?

/Obamacare is legal under the Constitution. So was slavery!

Rokita insisted that Obamacare is "one of the most insidious laws ever developed by men" and will hurt the country "much more than any government shutdown." Costello then pressed him on the upcoming dept ceiling fight, asking, "Obamacare hurts the country worse than [not] raising the debt ceiling? Because that's not what a bunch of Wall Street bankers told the president yesterday."

Rokita even dismissed the idea that defaulting on the nation's debt would be more harmful than Obamacare. "I had a lot of CEOs in my office yesterday, and they didn't share the same vision with me that some CEOs apparently shared with the president," he said.

Time to stock up on non-perishables and cash out of the markets. We're going nuclear on the debt ceiling.

Jon Stewart had some fun with the "one of the most insidious laws ever developed by men" line the other night.

"Not just one of the most insidious laws ever created by America, which has Jim Crow and slavery on its resume, but by man, putting Obamacare up there with the Nuremburg laws, the Spanish Inquisition and primae noctis, the medeval law where, on your wedding night, the king gets to sleep with your wife."

Socialist thinking like public education cause children to waste time in school rather than making money for themselves doing something useful like working in factories or picking fruit.

Socialist thinking like minimum levels of food and shelter levels keep the labor pool overfull so that working people can't use the laws of supply and demand to negotiate higher wages.
If we just allowed enough people to starve and freeze the rest of the working poor might stand a chance.

An unbreakable cycle of poverty is the inevitable result of socialist thinking.

You know even if I agreed with Republican policies 100% I still wouldn't vote for them. They are assholes and treat everyone else like trash.

But I think both those things go hand in hand. People who are superficial and are incapable of deep thoughts are both bigots and misogynistic and also have policies that are simplistic.

This is called not being able to control the message.

It would be one thing if douchebag said "this is the worst social safety net law the United States has created". It might still be wrong, but at least it would raise a valid debate.

But one of the worst laws ever created by man? To sum up what others have already said, man has created laws to legally kill people they don't like, own other people, and legalize rape. And this is the worst?

Rep. Douchebag is guilty of hyperbole in the 1st degree.

//fully acknowledge that my "worst social safety net law" would never come out of a tea partiers mouth because it would acknowledge that Ss, welfare, etc aren't the worst things in the world

Some quick googling didn't bring me a citation for the 'rape' portion, but ...

23From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. "Get out of here, baldy!" they said. "Get out of here, baldy!" 24He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.

... apparently mauling is a just punishment for the next time any of us jokes about Trump's combover.
