Immature hockey players/coaches?

shocker

Psychotic coaches are always entertaining. Q-stache gets pretty animated, but I've never seen him try to assault the other team's bench.

Colorado was always way more fun when Marc Crawford was insane.  I, for one, salute Mr. Roy and look forward to much butthurt around the league.

I don't blame Roy one bit for what he did.  Knee on knee hit to the future of his team in the first game of the season and then Porky Pig put out his goons after that?  I'd be fuming with that whiny little prick, too.  He was a contrite asshole as the Caps coach and I see he is still the same guy.

Crawford had something to say about that last night...

Marc Crawford @TsnMarcCrawford
What is it about being behind the Colorado Avalanche bench that makes coaches occasionally lose their mind? #felicitationPatrick1stwin

One of my favorite moments from the Wings/Avs epic rivalry games: "The 63-year-old Bowman told the 36-year-old Crawford that he knew his father before Crawford was even born and that his father wouldn't be proud of his son right now. "

I always felt a sense of relief that Roy was in net and could only mouth off when the play stopped in his end.  Sakic, Foote, Tanguay, Forsberg, etc. played with more control and respect for the game and the other team.  I am very grateful that Roy was in net for 2 Cup wins but I think he's going to drag down the Avs reputation with coaching antics like this.

His postgame interview is great.

"I felt like I owed the fans something."
*random erratic blinking while a question is being asked*
"Just a normal night for me."
*contemplates decapitating a reporter*
"We have to stay disciplined, and tonight I think we did a great job at that."

Who cares about the Avs reputation? Avs fans. Who were loving the Roy show last night? Avs fans.

2. The Avs better be included in the 2015 Winter Classic only so we can see him on HBO's 24/7.

And have them play the Red Wings at Mile High. The alumni game would be incredible, with benches likely clearing. Would have to wait until 2016 for that to happen though, Washington is already hosting the 2015 Winter Classic

For the record, the Ducks and Avs do not meet again until March

Is it just me, or did the Avs actually look GOOD last night? I'm not saying Stanley Cup here, but the game shouldn't have been that far out of reach, right?

Of course, Varly and the Defence's performance could have been a total fluke...

"What Boudreau said was all lies,"Roy told the Denver Post, in response to Boudreau's accusations Roy was yelling at Anaheim's players. "I don't talk to players, I respect all the players. "

Oh you certainly do Patrick.  You'd never throw a fit and charge after a guy who just scored a penalty shot on you.  And you'd certainly never send your son down to the other end of the rink to beat up the opposing teams goaltender.  You've got nothing but respect for other players.

Jackass.

That wall came down a little too easy.

The Avs were looking for an excuse to do that, and the wall had been set up to do that.

I just don't understand hockey fans.  I've been to one hockey game and the crowd really only got into when there was a fight.  You're watching a depiction of the worst of humanity and cheering for the actors.  What's that say about you?

You can lose a lot and still play the game right and be respectable.  There are a lot of guys in the organization with their name on the Cup multiple times.

Except it wasn't an intentional knee-on-knee hit.  Lovejoy's left leg was under his hip, and he was trying to make a good check.  McKinnon tried to dodge, and got his upper body out of the way, but not the lower body.  I'm all for getting mad at intentional knee-on-knee hits, but this wasn't one.

That's what every Avs fan was hoping for/expecting with Roy's hiring - the patented Patty Meltdown. If he can light a fire under that team, more power to him. Last night's game was awesome to see and Roy going off just capped it perfectly.

That's more likely that Roy truly losing his cool.  Hockey in Denver has been miserable since Roy left, and he needed to light a fire under not only his own team, but to make a public statement.

Oh bullshiat, Lovejoy stuck his knee out.  No one who throws a good check does it leg first.

BATMANATEE: He's always been a childish dick. I hope he gets suspended for this.

Between the knee to knee hitjob that Boudreau ordered on McKinnon and Corey Perry squirting Roy with his water bottle, there's no way they'd suspend Roy for reacting. The reality is that Boudreau, both with the Caps and the Ducks (including last years mess against the wings) has been notorious for ordering non-hockey related injury-intending hits on people when he's in games that are out of reach. Roy was pissed, but the really dangerous one last night was Boudreau.

If you watch the video, Corey Perry (before squirting Roy with the water bottle) is sitting on the wall, leaning around the divider, screaming at Roy. Roy pretty clearly on the video just yells back at Perry "F off A____" then Boudreau comes over and yells at Roy, who is all too happy to respond  that Boudreau can't keep his players under control, then Perry squirts Roy with the water bottle, and Roy pretty well blows his gasket

You may not like Roy, but between the dirty hit and Perry coming around the divider, either Boudreau was coaching dirty, or he just totally lost control of his players... the problem here wasn't Roy.

And where did I say Anaheim had no part in this?  I'm merely posting a rebuttal to Roys "I don't behave like that." BS when he has a long history of doing so.

I'm saying that you seemed to be inferring that Roy was happy to start crap with players, and while there's probably a case for that, it isn't at all what happened... Boudreau lost control of his players and when Roy responded, Boudreau was so disconnected from what was going on that he blamed everyone but himself.

Ummm, he IS happy to start crap with players.  Whether or not he did in this case is irrelevant to that point.  He took the position that he doesn't do that, when he has done so in the past and will likely keep doing so in the future.
