The correct answer is a Gunstar would win after activating the Death Blossom.

2 warships loaded down with shiat-tons of sci-fi nonsense against a tiny fighter craft with believable armaments.  I'm totally sure a StarFury would stand a chance.

Wonder what that last ship was, coming out of the corner?

2013-10-03 12:47:28 PM
I'll be designing ships from the Royal Manticorian Navy. Just so I can create the situation of the ever increasing missile swarms.

Defiant.  Small, agile, might have a cloak.

Love the Gunstar, but I'm concerned about a ship that's missing its 9v battery.

How about the Systems Commonwealth Glorious Heritage Class Heavy Cruiser Shining Path to Truth and Knowledge AI model GRA 112, serial number XMC-10284 Andromeda Ascendant?  Just saying the name will bore their enemies into blowing themselves up.

Meh, give me a fully functional TARDIS and we'll see who's left standing.

Looks like a neat update to Space War.

Which Yamato?  The original 1970's vintage, or the new Yamato 2199 reboot version with the Wave Motion Shields?

If it's the latter, I'm betting on the Yamato.

('Course, even in the original series, Sandor/Sanada *did* come up with the 'Reflector Force Field' just in time to stop Desslok/Dessler's last shot at them...)

Or, the bigger version from 'Crusade' - The Excalibur.  It was no slouch in the gunnery department, either.

/tho' the Wave Motion Gun is pretty hard to top.  Not just a planet-buster - it blew away a *star* with one shot.  (A small, artificial star, but hey.)
//only saw a few things resist a hit from it during the original series.  And they had to have some pretty impressive force field reinforcement, IIRC.

They were aircraft carriers. In that configuration she can fire off her main gun (the big booms on her shoulders), or "punch" another ship with one arm, open the reinforced foreplate, and use mecha to unload a fark ton of munitions internally.

She also has a full-coverage force field, that tended to explode when overloaded; leaving her intact while obliterating everything else around her.

Defiant beats Star Fury, and Yamato. Considering TOS era trek starships could take a nuke or two on the shields, have on-demand warp drive, and transporters. The WMG is a non issue, Defiant will never be in front of it.

Hm. That looks different from the one I saw before, especially given the inclusion of EVE Online ships. That said, I can't believe they included the ship from Silent Running on that chart. That movie was horrible.

I thought the SDF-1 was called Macross in Macross but Super Dimensional Fortress in Robotech. And that ship is one of my favorite animated ships ever. A big ass ship that can transform into a giant mech. That is pure awesomeness incarnate.

DEFIANT was a liferaft for a FAILING show.

It is just CPC  (coastal patrol craft) as designed by People who have no concept of:

Power Systems Loads
Conservation of energy
How silly an itty bitty bridge looks like in video
Design aesthetics

And that a it would be commanded by a  Lt  Grade officer
Never a commander.

Battleship Yamato,  cause Mass it still a big deal in space.

I dunno. If you asked "Who would win in a fight between a Death Star or a group of X-Wing fighters?" the answer would not be as obvious.

Ned Stark: HIMP Dahak.

You lose to the Skylark of Valeron (EE Doc Smith)

Shadow Blasko: Can I outfit my ship with a General Products #3 hull?

If so, throw whatever you like at me.

/Except your warp core. No Antimatter

1)  Hyper missile from Dahak.  Your hull can't stop hyper missiles, the missile bursts inside.  (Admittedly, though, I'm not sure if they even carried fusion warheads for them.)

2)  Hyper missile from Dahak, gravitronic warhead.  GP hulls don't stop gravity, it will get you even if it bursts outside your hull.

3)  Any of the fighter craft from The Apocalypse Troll.  Their guns work through hyperspace.

4)  The Skylark I already mentioned.  It can't penetrate your GP hull but your hull is transparent--and it can deliver so much energy that you'll fry even though your hull remains intact.

5)  The Little Doctor from the Ender's Game universe.  Your hull is made of matter, it will blow.

6)  Most any later ship from the Lensman universe.  While I don't think their beams can do anything to you they have the tractor beam and the Bergenholm can take a nearby ship inertialess.  Lock a tractor beam on, go free, take your ship with them and head for a nearby star, get very close and with your intrinsic pointing into the star.  Switch the tractor to repulsor and fly away.  Their shields let them get far closer to the star than you can tolerate, you're frying and heading into the star.  Again, it doesn't matter that your hull isn't penetrated, enough light comes through.  If that's not nasty enough, how about pulling the same stunt with a degenerate body?  Deep enough in the gravity well your engines simply won't have the power to get away.  Their safety limit is based on the tides, though, they can go free and escape the gravity no matter how close they get.

Death Star, clearly. I mean hell, the Death Star took out almost all of the x-wings (and y-wings) and the combined alliance fleet only took out one death star. Statistics are clearly in the Death Star's favor. :-)
