Yeah, Price and Cook are doing it right - there's a multiplicity of covers and editions for the usual business purposes, but it's a good comic in its own right. Well-drawn, nice plots, umm, I mean reasonably well-developed story lines, and little things like this sprinkled throughout every issue.

Also, I can see this is going to be a productive day.

Does DC really have 52 titles in current distribution? Talk about diffusing your market. I know nothing about the comic industry but I know about spreading your customer base thin while increasing your per unit costs.

yes.  and when they cancel books, they bring new books into take their place.

I'm not sure who is worse with Gimmicks.  DC, who had their flag covers (52 covers, iirc, all 50 states, Puerto Rico and a US Flag)  and now 3D covers for Villain's month.

Or Marvel with the final, black bagged age of Ultron book, which was essentially an advertisement for other ongoing series.

What happened to one major tie in a year and then regular stories for rest of the time?

See, I only think MLP is okay at the best of times, but I don't bother to troll those who like it because what's the point?

Trolling works because people are insecure. They secretly suspect that their tastes/beliefs/politics may be wrong, so they get defensive and lash out at those who question them.

But the farking bronies?! These guys are flat out celebrating their devotion to a show for little girls. They have no shame, and I mean that in both the bad and good way. I'm embarrassed half the time to admit I love Doctor Who, and these guys admit they love Doctor Who That Is Also A Horse.

Trolling them is like a 12 year old calling someone gay on Xbox live and having them reply "Actually, my partner and I have been together for six years now". If they're not ashamed, then who cares?

Post-"Flashpoint" DC did indeed release 52 titles.  The standard-bearers (Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, The Flash, et. al.) and other not-so-standard (Liefeld's Hawk & Dove...UGH!).  IIRC they're still doing it.

Well, as a reference point, the premise of "Doctor Who" was supposed to teach about history...and of course it turned out to be something else altogether.  So MLP has that in common with "Doctor Who"

From what I've seen from pictures of the launch of the first issues, quite a few of those customers are actual little girls. Which is even worse news for the Big 2, cause now there is a market of females who like well done comics and there is no way in hell either Marvel or DC will get their money.

The funniest part of the "we publish comics for 45-year-olds" quote is that they alienated all the old readers by destroying all the characters they had been reading for 20+ years.

So who does DC publish comics for now, other than speculators and brand fanboys?

I understand that you haters feel compelled to work the pedo/furry angle into every single damned pony thread (presumably because you can't be bothered to think up another insult), but can you at least try to make sense with them? Not just Lucy. I read Teen Titans in the 80's, loved the Teen Titan anime. Really loved what they did with Raven and Starfire. Hate what they have done to Starfire in the new 52, HATE IT!

The new 52:
Justice League - Sucks
JLI - Sucks
JLD - Sucks
Batman and all his incarnations - Sucks
Superman - Sucks, but Superman always sucks.
Red Hood and the Outlaws - BURN IT! BURN IT ALL!
Static Shock - Meh
The rest - Meh

How could they possibly have farked this up? The reboot could have been awesome, I was excited and now it is just farking stupid.

Neither are the MLP issues, which have fluctuated between ~9k to 44k this year.  They just sell at a higher rate than DC books (biweekly at ~35k a piece rather than monthly at 100k).

And justice league, JLA, and Batman have been very stable (sans issue 1 of JLA with 300k sold)
