Man that's some EGO there.

"One night, I just woke up and went 'Killing Jesus.' I believe that it's because I'm in contact..."

That's is the kind of quote we usually get from guys just arrested for torturing, murdering, and eating people.

One of the best Colbert segments of the year.

We were debating last night after the segment: Has O'Reilly moved from saying shiat because he knows it makes money to actually BELIEVING his bullshiat? You see it often. I think he has. I think he actually has switched believing the sycophants that adore him, rather than just bullshiatting them for profit.

There are two things I wouldn't want to go up against Colbert on: Catholicism and LoTR.

Bill O' better not write a book about why the Eagles didn't take the ring to Mordor.

Or from guys who write out their murder fantasies of historic people who help the oppressed.

If I recall the story correctly, Colbert Out-trivia'd the guy Peter Jackson hired *SOLELY TO KNOW TRIVIA ABOUT LOTR*.

That article sucked.  I mean, I like Stephen Colbert and I know (from other sources) about o'reilly's "Jesus hated taxes" insanity but I don't need an article to tell me, effectively, "lol Stephen Colbert was teh funnay."

Do you know the gaping hole that would be left on Mediate and RawStory if they didn't have their daily "Here's the funny stuff on Comedy Central last night" articles?

Doesn't the real Colbert (not the character with the same name he plays) teach Sunday school?

In an interview last Sunday with "60 Minutes," O'Reilly said, "All of the ideas come to me in the middle of the night. One night, I just woke up and went 'Killing Jesus.' I believe that it's because I'm in contact...that comes from the Holy Spirit."

This is how Republicans come up with their economic policies too, from dreams.

yes Billdo, you're killing Jesus.

Seems fitting.

Would be nice to see the Pope excommunicate O'Reilly for this one.

What makes that even more funny is that I saw the part of 60 Minutes right before this segment. It was a segment on delusional people that hear voices. The IRONIC tag imploded when Bill O' came on and said that.

I've often been confused by the whole Trinitarian  concept - that God (Jehovah), Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are really the same thing even though Jesus is also the son of God.

Most Christians do their praying to Jesus and might just regard him as the kinder, gentler aspect of Jehovah.

However without Trinitarianism  we would have to assume that Jesus staged a palace coup and has locked up crazy old Jehovah in the attic so that Jesus can assume complete power. I and most people have no idea of what the Holy Ghost is supposed to be. If both Jehovah and Jesus still live then who died and left a ghost behind?

Jesus is Luke Skywalker, Yahweh is Obi Wan, and the Holy Spirit is midichlorians. Or something.

The official church teachings on it is, and I think I'm getting this correct -- "Shut up. Don't ask questions. You don't have to understand it, just to blindly believe it. Now give me 10% of your lunch money."

I'm fairly sure BillO would not approve of "Muddy Jesus", either.

Yes. Or at least he did at one point.

From my understanding, Colbert is the "Yay Jesus, fark Paul" type of Christian.

Well, there's also the gnostic interpretation, which argues the Yahweh of the old testament is one of the "False gods" posing as the demiurge. (If I remember right?)

Another alternative is that omniscience does not necessarily entail infinite *perspective*, at least in a graspable way-after all, the old-testament "satan" was, if I remember right, *an angel god charged with being a dick*, because God was uncertain he would fairly judge his creations, so he needed someone to, well, be a dick and a contrarian. As such, one could have fun arguing that being forced to incarnate/live as a human results in a "OH fark THAT'S HARD" epiphany.

/Why yes, I *AM* a fan of Terry Pratchett's 'Small Gods'. And all his other books.
//I also have fun introducing evangelical Christians to the concept that there are *different sizes and types* of infinity, and you can have an infinite set that's a subset of a *larger* infinite set....

Look Orson Scott Card explained it all. Jehovah is Ender the God, old testement smite the buggers, Jesus is Ender/Peter clone, new testament love your neighbor etc..., and the Holy Ghost is the Ender/Jane computer thing, it moves you and allows you to go off to Heaven where you and your family are given a fertile world all your own for you and all your descendants to live on forever and ever Amen.

It's hard to believe that people listen to this guy, but it plays into two things that the Tea Party love.  Jesus and Conservatives.  Bill O'Reilly tells them that Jesus was really killed because he was the head of the tea party, and all the neo-cons jump up and scream "hell yes!"  It makes them feel like all of their political beliefs are justified because they come from GOD.

If Jesus is Luke Skywalker, then authoritarian, cruel, dogmatic, only-deals-in-absolutes Anakin is Yahweh.

The Holy Spirit is the Force.  Which I guess is midichlorians.  Or something.

Things I learned about Bill O' this week:

1). He hears voices in his head he attributes to God (60 Minutes interview)
2). He is for a gun registry (Daily Show)
3). He thinks parts of the Bible is wrong (60 Ms)

O'Reilly is just one of the talking heads guarding the inhabitants of Bullsh*t Mountain from rejoining the world of the sane. Fox News is a propaganda machine which dumbs down America by the day through disinformation and their slanted agendas. See what's really coming out of their mouths at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/201 2/10/the-fox-news-scylla-guardia n-of-bullsht.html

I guess this is the first time I really noticed it.  I mean I can dig bringing it up, but at least add some other context or info or reactions or ANYTHING besides repeating someone else, right?
