rush hour traffic

Subby, you poor, ignorant, fool. That was a nigh empty two lane highway compared to rush hour traffic.

I knew a guy that used to do that shait.
"Knew" is the operative word because he's pushing up wheat for the poor now.

It would have been a crying shame if one of those drivers had neglected to properly check his side mirror and made a lane change right as the bike was zipping by inches from the door. A crying, crying shame.

No, that's rush hour traffic in that area.

Now, there are a few things to remember here:

1. Motorcycle license plates are very small and hard to read from any distance.
2. Full face helmets obscure your facial features.
3. A motorcycle can go places that a car, truck, or SUV can't follow.

Having said that, you can't out-run a radio.  Apparently, though, this guy was smart enough to exit the highway before the police could get any assets in place to stop him.

I had a friend who once was doing a blistering 140+ MPH down the Northway in his rice burner, a bright red Kawasaki Ninja 600.  He blew past a state trooper, who radioed up ahead to another who failed to intercept, but he knew the jig was up so he pulled over and waited for them to catch up.  He figured the speeding ticket would be bad enough, and the additional charges for evading the police would be worse, so he stopped.

He had to sell the bike in order to pay the fines, court costs, and lawyer fees.

/Drummer in my band bought the bike, and I bought the drummer's bike

Hey!  Leave those poor bikers alone.  When I need a new kidney because I've marinated this one I know it will have come from something looking like 4 jars of jam spread over the highway.  Keep 'em riding, keep 'em donating organs I say.

Traffic? Maybe for Vermont(which is a reason to love VT BTW). BTW I see this at least once a week on i84 in CT.

i remember many years ago in tampa there was a guy doing wheelies up and down this major road. he ended up t-boning a full size van while doing a wheelie and actually knocked the van over. yeah, he died.

Of course by now you're all famliar with what recently happened in NY.  You know, SUV driver harassed by a swarm of crotch rockets...  This seems like an appropriate place to discuss this...

As per TFA.  This biker is a dumbass.

What happened in NY is pretty much the mindset of bikers when they act like that in force.  If there are like 40 of them, how the hell are the cops going to isolate one person.  This safety in numbers is what prompted them to act as they did.  That is, purposfully harass some guy in a SUV until one of them actually caused an accident.  What happened after that was completely absurd.  But it does go to show that even your safety in numbers won't proctect you when you REALLY fark up.  You might end up with a broken back.

durbnpoisn: If there are like 40 of them, how the hell are the cops going to isolate one person

Even if they do manage to isolate the single idiot, what are you going to do? These jackwagons are riding around on motorcyles that can move through stopped traffic at 60 mph and can hit speeds north of 160. Some of them can start from a dead stop and be doing 130 a quarter mile away in less time than it take a typical cop car to hit 60.

The only way to stop these assholes is for scum like that loser wife of the smear stain up in New York to stop making excuses for them and turn them in.

They call that deindividualism. We mostly know it as "mob mentality." With so many people, blame can be spread around, so you don't feel the same burden of guilt or weigh of morality.

Not to go all ITG here, but I would've done a lot worse damage than that SUV driver did, to protect my family in that same situation. He did everything 100% right.

It's not like he had much choice. "You can't outrun a radio" is a silly platitude. The cop had no chance of catching this guy, so he didn't try.

Also, I'll wager that at least half of the people spitting hatred at this biker also text while they drive.

Strongly disagree.  He could have dropped more of them during the pursuit.

Still give him a 9.9, but it was almost a perfect 10.

It's pretty funny watching squids try to rationalize that the guy was being somehow unreasonable or aggressive - the fact that he didn't put 10-20 of them in the ICU/morgue makes it obvious that he was just trying to get away.

It seems that that report actually got the timeline of what occured.  You can see in the video that they were harassing the driver to start with.  Then, one rider swerved in front of the SUV and hit his brakes.  He even turned around to see how close he could get to the bumper.  That's when the SUV hit him.  It was clearly an accident.  But one that could have been avoided if that dude wasn't being an ass.

The driver stopped.  Presambly he was thinking, that's what you're supposed to do when there is an accident.  Then the bikers attacked his vehicle.

I would have driven off too.  I feel really bad for the guy who got run over.  But that's what you get, dude.

Clearly the guy in TFA (and by extension all motorcyclists) are just as bad as that pack of animals in NY, and the correct response when witnessing any bike splitting lanes is to run him over and laugh about it afterward.

Or for gods sake, bunch of whiney puss...kitties around her.

It was barely a wheelie... he just lifted the wheel past the dude then sat it down and swerved in and out of traffic for a few cars.

Even an average punk rider could do that with little to no fear of impending death.

I think that was probably the shortest video of motorcyclist antics I have ever seen.  Because any fewer stunts and you've got nothing worth recording.  Also the term splitting lanes is stupid.  A stupid person first coined it and the next guy went along with it because he felt sorry for the guy because he was so stupid.

Safe is a relative term. But what he's doing is far less dangerous (to anyone but himself) than most people would like to believe.

Most people break the law, and do things that are dangerous to others while in their vehicles, but they excuse the behavior because they think that nobody sees it. What this guy is doing is highly visible, and so it engenders a visceral reaction from the more authoritarian types, so they start wishing death on the guy.

The best and safest thing to do if a motorcycle blows past you in traffic at 120mph is just ignore him, and keep driving.

Meh.  I've been there and done that.

Hell, I'll go you one farther:  Back when my motorcycle was my primary means of transport, occasionally I would ride it to go to my hunting spots, which meant slinging a rifle across my back.

Never got stopped, nobody cared.

How well would that go over there?

Why?

Well, because he's young and stupid.  Many of us, when we were young and stupid, did stupid things.  But we made our way through it, and walked away.  This guy will never get a second chance.

Perhaps, if nothing else, it will serve as a lesson to people who do things as stupid as what he did.  But likely not.  It seems that most of the people around him see him as a victim.  You know, like the 29 other guys who attacked someone who was innocent to start with.
