Why do you hate Tojo, subby ?
Seriously- we bombed the Japanese back to the iron age- they rose above . They seem to be actually smart global partners. Aside from nuclear plant safeguards .... And If subby thinks we have left Smart Korea out of anything needs to get her / his head examined .

Well, North Korea is still trying to figure out what kind of string is best to use with their tin cans.

SK and Japan are hating on each other pretty hard right now.

All of the Koreans will probably hate Japan for another thousand years, and rightly so.

But that's no reason the US shouldn't have made this move. China's sh*tting all over us.

South Korea is also pretty happy about being defended by the US, and I see no evidence, in this article or anywhere else, that yesterday's agreement, which specifically calls for "trilateral cooperation between the United States, South Korea and Japan to face common threats, like North Korea's nuclear program" makes SK go "dafuq!?"

Imagine if Germany had never really owned up to what took place before, and during, world war 2 and then expecting them to play nice with... oh... say... Israel.

Though, the US is pretty much tied to both South Korea and Japan both, and while we'll likely end up letting Taiwan twist in the wind eventually, those two we are rather obligated to stand with and hold the proverbial and literal line.

I'm sure SK is a little miffed but they are also capable of being pragmatic.

Many South Koreans hate the Japanese. They still haven't forgiven them for atrocities committed during Japanese occupation. And that is compounded by students in Japan not being taught the history of what Japan did in WW2.

From what I've been following Japan has been trying to drive a wedge between Taiwan and China, especially over fishing rights and those disputed islands. I think the stronger China gets, the closer the relationship between SK/Japan/Taiwan/India is going to get.
