Maybe a clue? It would be really nice if the GOP could get a clue drop-shipped to them from reality.

Perhaps one core problem with the GOP is that they're more concerned with getting respect (and the concurrent benefits) than in developing the prestige to earn/warrant it.

There was a pretty decent piece on NPR this morning about the 30 or so deep Red republicans who have thrown so much fear into the party, no one wants to cross them. Boehner and many others are legitimately afraid that if they back down, they will lose their seats.

The amount by which we are farked, is very, very large.

The goal is just the shutdown. Hurt the economy and try to load Obama up with even more stuff to fix and claim that it is his fault. If they can get a ransom too, whatever that is, hey, great, free ransom, let's do it again! They will continue to do this with the debt limit too until stopped. This can't be the new way the government operates or the country will fall apart... come to think of it that is probably the goal, we are under attack but have not had the second plane hit yet so we don't realize it.
