Let's see a leatherman do that.

After digging deep enough to free himself, he crawled to his ute to his mobile phone and raised the alarm.

He shouldn't have disturbed that wild tractor unnecessarily. He better be careful or next time it could be a back hoe that gets him. Those things have razor sharp scoops that can pierce your heart.

FTA: With no one in earshot and about nine tonnes of machinery collapsed on his leg, the veteran farmhand was able to remove his boot while deciding on his next move over a cigarette.

They don't make 'em like this guy anymore.

What is the relevance of the number of grandchildren to this story?  It seems rather arbitrary to use that as the man's defining characteristic. Why not "Man wears beige, pinned under tractor for 6 hours"

What TFA fails to mention is after he dug himself out, he yelled at the tractor to get the Fark off his lawn, which it promptly did.

Phineas: What is the relevance of the number of grandchildren to this story?

A tally of how many people would have cared if he had died, I suppose.

Huh. Clever chap. I would have thought of removing the leg before trying to dig with the knife. Must remember that trick.

TFA: He was flown to Cairns Hospital where surgeons worked throughout the night to try and save his leg from being amputated.

And?  AND?

I fail to see how digging under the leg at any location wouldn't only result in more stress on the limb.

why do i give a shiat how many grandchildren he has? because he's a breeder he's better or something?

I still don't think this explains how all those grandchildren got gonorrhea.....

Manfred J. Hattan: TFA: He was flown to Cairns Hospital where surgeons worked throughout the night to try and save his leg from being amputated.

And?

Just from looking at the picture attached to TFA, I'm guessing they succeeded....unless, of course, they paused for a photo op before they started trying to save his leg.

How did his five grandchildren get pinned under a tractor. If they were my grandchildren, I'd have tried digging them out before myself. Selfish prick.

What a pussy. Here in NSW we'd have smoked the knife and dug ourselves out with the cigarette.

Pussy, here in WA we'd'av played 'knifey spooney' with the tractor, using a few King Browns as a pulley and a Saltie for a splint.

Tractor owners are 15x more likely to be injured by a tractor than someone who has never been within 10 miles of one.

/common sense tractor regulation now!

Barry Lynch, 54, was preparing for a day's work on an East Feluga cane farm on Tuesday morning when the drawbar of a crop sprayer collapsed on his leg, pinning him to the ground

Sounds like part of the equipment the tractor was pulling pinned him. Possibly the hitch of the crop sprayer that connects to the tractor.

You know, those aren't so bad.  They look more natural, as oppose to looking like an inter-species transplant.
