In my day, Lego meant little sharp blocks that you snap together to make big jumbled messes that were then almost impossible to pry apart back into the original separate blocks. I'm tired of all these "lego" kits and products that are basically the whole entire toy, just with some Ikea-style assembly required.

Former lego store employee here. Kids came back in all the time with broken watches. I assume the company farmed them out to the lowest bidder in China, because that's what they did with all the licensed crap. I usually just grabbed another one off the shelf, gave it to the kid, and damaged it out.

I was legitimately coming here to ask if it was cool to hate legos because "corporations and consumerism" and all that trash. But I guess this answers my question.
