Illinois Republican Sen. Mark Kirk, who plans to escort the Chicago veterans to the World War II memorial Wednesday, was also contacted by organizers of the event and asked to come. He signed on to the political messaging in a brief interview outside the World War II Tuesday.
"It's the president's [fault]" the memorial is closed, Kirk said. "He's having a long temper tantrum. He thinks he can instruct the country that we should all spend money and raise taxes just like he thinks and I think he's absolutely incorrect. He's shaking in his boots that people actually experience Obamacare and they will never vote Democrat again."

So... Obama's so worried people might hate Obamacare that he's willing to stand up to the Republicans in order to keep it?  Do you actually listen to the words that come out of your mouth?

That's the part of that drives me crazy. The media is acting like one party hasn't decided to fundamentally change the way the 2 branches of the federal government operate - like literally decided that 200 years of legislative process has failed us to the point of a treasonous partisan revolt.

When government becomes unfunctioning (I know it's not a real word), the stage is set for an authoritarian dictator.

Evidently Ted Cruz got skull farked by the Senate GOP today in a private meeting.

"At a closed-door lunch meeting in the Senate's Mansfield Room, Republican after Republican pressed Cruz to explain how he would propose to end the bitter budget impasse with Democrats, according to senators who attended the meeting. A defensive Cruz had no clear plan to force an end to the shutdown - or explain how he would defund Obamacare, as he has demanded all along, sources said.

.....

It was very evident to everyone in the room that Cruz doesn't have a strategy - he never had a strategy, and could never answer a question about what the end-game was," said one senator who attended the meeting. "I just wish the 35 House members that have bought the snake oil that was sold could witness what was witnessed today at lunch."

I think Cruz is probably very book smart, but there's something very wrong with him.  It's beyond run of the mill lack of common sense.

We used to have a similar thing in the Senate.  The state houses could recall them at any time.  It's a damned shame that was taken away by career politicians.

No shiat! It was patently obvious to everyone with an IQ higher than single digits that Cruz had no strategy in this at all. Anyone with a basic grasp of how the government works could have told you there was no way to defund Obamacare at this point.

Ted Cruz was born outside the country to a foreign father and an American mother. Per the "Birth Abroad to One Citizen and One Alien Parent" provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, Cruz only qualifies for American citizenship if his mother was "physically present in the United States for 10 years prior to his birth, five of which had to be after she reached the age of 14." "The only definitive way to prove Eleanor Cruz's 10 years of physical presence would be with documents such as leases, school registration, utility bills or tax records." Can Cruz put his hands on his mother's utility bills from 1965? Can he prove he is an American citizen? Because frankly, even the possibility Ted Cruz is not an American citizen, immediately makes me conclude he isn't one. And if Ted Cruz is not an American citizen, what the fark is he doing in the United States Senate? As a foreign national in office under false pretenses, isn't he technically a spy? Why isn't this guy in jail?
