To be fair, even if it did break laws Rick wouldn't remember which ones.

He broke 3 laws.

Texas is #1!!!

1. Texas
• Pct. without health insurance (2012): 22.5%
• Unemployment rate (2012): 6.8% (17th lowest)
• Poverty rate: 17.9% (11th highest)
• Pct. aged 65 and over: 10.9% (3rd lowest)
Not only did Texas have the highest rate of uninsured people in 2012, but the state also
had among the highest portion of uninsured children, elderly, and unemployed people. Additionally, over 30% of adults under 65 were uninsured in the state. Lawmakers have been opposed to the Affordable Care Act, with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz speaking for over 20 hours in an attempt to block the law from taking effect.

"That is a criminal act, from my perspective, to put that type of burden on them to mortgage their future like that. America cannot stand that," added Gov. Perry, who could not name what law or statute was actually being violated.

I guarantee if he's questioned about this any more he'll fall back on the "from my perspective" interpretation or just go with the tried-and-true "Not intended to be a factual statement" excuse.

Of course it's hard to name just one.  The law is so unconstitutional that the Supreme Court was forced to declare it constitutional.

I'm not sure I'd put money on Rick Perry being able to name one state that borders Oklahoma

Seriously.  His whore wife thinks women should have freedom of choice and the ability to make their own medical decisions.  You really want to listen to a man who can't control his own wife?

I love the inconsistent massaging of the Right on this shutdown. "This shutdown isn't bad," "it's more of a slimdown, really," "this is the kick in the pants we need to get back on the right track;" while, simultaneously, "this terrible shutdown is the Democrats' fault," "they refuse to negotiate and force us to shut down."

So is it a terrible thing that the Democrats forced on the poor, good hearted Republicans through their intransigence? Or is it the shot in the arm that America needs, is no big deal, and shows that the government isn't really that essential, so the Republicans want to "bring it on?"

2013-10-02 04:20:59 PM
I honestly surprised Rick Perry knows how to wipe his own ass without poking out an eye.  It's amazing how anyone could make George W. Bush look like William F. Buckley, but damn it if he's not succeeding at it.

Yeah, but it's the Federal Government that is stealing. States are ok to steal all they want. States Rights, not individual rights.

Rick Perry this week: "If this heath care law is forced upon this country, the young men and women in this audience are the ones who are really going to pay the price. And that, I suggest to you, reaches the point of being a felony toward them and their future"

Rick Perry last week: With a potential government shutdown looming in less than a week, Gov. Rick Perry of Texas said it would be "nonsensical" for his fellow Republicans to support any effort to bring government to a halt over the health care law. "I don't think it's a good option," Perry told "The Fine Print." "There's still time to sit down and try to fix Obamacare." (Link)

Honestly shocked that he didn't call for a "Prayer Attack on Obamacare" after the success he had with the one to end the drought

Yeah, its called the "Don't Mess With Texas" law of 2001, stupids

Governor Perry came to my state and debated our governor about jobs. Perry was trying to get companies to move to Texas.

Our governor pointed out that our state has the #1 school rating in the country, and Texas is #50.

I think the rest of the world is pretty used to it by now. The whole "teabaggers don't want to pay the country's bills because birt certificit death panels WHARRRGARBL" and the resultant credit downgrade helped to educate them on how things work around here.

One of my usually liberal-leaning friends informed me that he didn't like being "forced" to do anything by the Federal government.

A great example of how right-wing propaganda makes ordinarily smart people seem incredibly stupid and petty.

2013-10-02 05:48:24 PM
but he's wearing his smart glasses!

you don't need to know what laws (plural) are being broken, all you need to know is that Obamacare bad.

2013-10-02 05:49:09 PM
Okay - so he's TRYING to sound stupid on this one, right?  I mean, he can't actually be that stupid and become governor of a state with tens of millions of people in it.

I think you forget that every country has its crazies and they manifest in different ways.  Anywhere that has proportional representation ends up with literal fascists getting a seat or two from time to time.

That's the most incredible piece of hyperbole to ever exist in the History of the Written Word.

2013-10-02 05:53:27 PM
Obamacare passed via a legal vote in Congress in 2009, was lawfully signed by President Obama in 2010 and upheld in the U.S. Supreme Court in 2012.

someone tell me (or him) how a legal law is illegal.  what the f*ck does that even f*cking mean.
