I may have missed the theme....but this was the discussion on the fishing forums around here.....popular boat ramp was closed as a result of the shut down at a boat ramp that collected fees on an honor system ( you put $5 in an envelop and dropped into a metal box).  Ramp was closed by Game Wardens were hired to keep people from using the ramp.

I was just getting pissed because I read an article on Foxnews where they used the phrase "slimdown".  I yelled at my screen because those tools over at fox are really just the RNC communications division.  Then i come here.  Thank you, subby, for calling it like it is.

Is the first picture after the 'O' even shopped? It looks like something they'd publish. This was the actual lead story on the Fox News main page last week.

And what would the tools at MSNBC be?

It's funny how the Fox "News" crowd can be simultaneously outraged and blasé about the shutdown.

"It's only a little slimdown."
"OBAMA SHUT DOWN MOUNT RUSHMORE!!!"

The implicit message sure is nice. "Obama is scared of white people!"

Yeah, there's a definite racial component to it. Not racist but #1 with racists...

Then read the text under the pictures and remember that this is their lead story, not their opinion page.

I don't care about either. Neither thing affected anybody I know which tells me that it's no big deal. I just hope that people finally realize their mail is still coming to the door every day as the post office funds itself entirely through sales and doesn't get any money from taxpayers except to pay for overseas absentee ballots/military base mail delivery.

You think that because the shutdown isn't hurting you or your friends, as far as you know, it must be no big deal? Wow, you're definitely a Republican. Take the blinders off. Other people exist in this country besides you and your buddies and a hell of a lot of them are being affected by this shiat.

My wife works for a non-profit theatre company, my best friend works for a food pantry/homeless shelter and I rehab abandoned houses, does that sound like the stereotype you built up for yourself to pigeon hole my world-view?

It works just fine. I'm judging your ignorance of the consequences of the government shutdown and the utter foolishness of your statement that since the people you know aren't affected, so far as you know, it must be no big deal. Try looking beyond your own backyard / neck of the woods, etc. I don't care where you work.

I am looking beyond my backyard the only way any of us can, via the news stories that besiege us night and day, and all of them are saying the same thing: "The parks, musuems and the government bloat/nepotism workers are shutdown/sent home".

All emergency services, military, national security, post office, Federal LEOs, SEC, entitlement programs, air traffic control, border patrol,  safety nets, passports/visas, VA hospitals, are still fully operational, and many more, not to mention the people that were sent home will eventually get paid for the time they didn't work.
