Yeah, I read a more complete article where the photographer said it dug up the petrified birds and posed them to make it look cool.  The pictures got circulated and no one bothered to read the freakin' article or think critically about the photos or think about the possible mechanisms behind a petrification process.

/I firmly believe that the internet destroyed critical thinking.

Nah, it just reinforced the long known fact that people aren't very good at it.

It's kinda why have the scientific method, to try and compensate for that difficulty.
