"He was born this way and didn't choose it more than he being left-handed. You, however, have made a choice of being hateful, narrow-minded and backward. So while we are in the business of disowning children, I think I'll take this moment to say goodbye to you.

Whoa! Whoa!

Was he comparing being gay to being left handed!?

I'll have you know that I'm ambidextrous, which means I can go eith...

On second though, never mind.

There's obviously something wrong with this grandfather. What kind of person writes a letter on graph paper?

This, and why does it have a t-shirt ad attached?

As noted in the comments on HuffPo, if the daughter received such a letter from her father, why would she post it on the internet??

Sybarite: There's obviously something wrong with this grandfather. What kind of person writes a letter on graph paper?

Yet more evidence that the letter is a fake.

The paper wasn't folded, as if the letter had just been written. Maybe the grandson took a pic with his phone and posted it to imgur before granddad folded it up and put it in the envelope?

This is one of those times where I don't really care if it is a fake. If it changes one person's attitude toward the LGBT community (or even just a family member) then it will have done its job.

It's fake...

I can tell from the ink and having seen quite a few in my time.

Chemists, lab techs, programmers, architects, building contractors, etc., etc.

Anecdatally, an engineer or architect.

That does seem rather anomalous.

Because a mother who was bigoted enough to disown her son for being gay - and then brag about it to the rest of the family - would be 'oppressed' enough by being called out on her shiat to spread this around Facebook as a way to try to convince the rest of the family to disown granddad?

2013-10-02 03:16:50 PM
I shall choose to be tolerant of her intolerance, for the way of the world since the onslaught of the Christian Right is to make every last human being on Earth as retarded and loyal to retardation (the Bible) as possible, but damn if I don't hope she gets killed by a drunk driver or cancer sometime soon.

This is going to greatly disappoint his husband.

Engineers. They're napkins are made of graph paper.

Also:

"I now have a fabulous (as the gay put it)..."

I don't know why but I found that pretty amusing. Gramps doesn't really understand a lot of what's going on here, but he knows what's right dammit.

Someone is working overtime.

//I think he's a false flag operator like O'Reilly.  Too much money to be made in right-wing derprage though, so much less to be made in left-wing (no such thing) outrage.

At the end, he gives her the opportunity to apologize, so there's that.

In this instance, yes. Who's being hurt by the means beyond a bigoted mother (who may or may not exist)?

He was born this way and didn't choose it more than he being left-handed.

My mom was beaten by her Catholic school teachers because she wrote with her left hand. She's ambidextrous now.

Al Simmons read that grandfather's letter and muttered:  "Damn!  And I thought I got some sick burn from Jason Wynn and Chapel."

2013-10-02 03:32:52 PM
I'm sure someone is seeing this as "Father disowns daughter because she is a Christian."
