"We have Tagine, slow-cooked lamb stew, being served in Morocco for breakfast, and Natto, fermented soybeans over rice, served in Japan. Or you could venture to try out Vegemite with some toast in Australia. Just don't say we didn't warn you on that one."

From everything my Japanophile friends tell me, natto is 1000 times nastier than anything else you might ever eat, including vegemite.

That infographic is so full of reverse-corrolations it sickens me.

Skipping breakfast doesn't make you fat, being fat makes you skip breakfast.

Poorer children who can't afford breakfast are more likely to skip it, and poorer children regardless of their breakfast status do less well on tests.

And and and: They cite their sources for "breakfasts around the world", instead of their breakfast health claims! WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?

"Individuals who miss breakfast are 4 times more likely to become obese"

"Eating breakfast makes you 43% less likely to become obese than people who don't eat breakfast"

I'm not sure how the math works out here.  I imagine both these claims are qualified up the wazoo.

Same here, my body doesn't seem to appreciate food if I'm still tired and groggy.  I haven't eaten a weekday breakfast in like 15 years.

More like kids that don't eat breakfasts don't have a stay-at-home parent. Having working parents takes its toll in many many ways.

I understand that if you have an active life, you gotta have breakfast.  But as a desk-riding engineer, I've never been able to maintain or loose weight eating a breakfast before hitting the desk. I mean, the first rule for me is not to eat before lunch if all I'm doing is CAD. Weekends, more active, bring on the bacon...

Same here.  Never hungry until noonish.  If I eat early, my intestines revolt, and I'll be late for work.  Almost 1, time for lunch. (only drink yerba mate in the morning.  After lunch, tea.)

2013-10-02 12:46:32 PM
I eat breakfast EVERY day.  A healthy, nutritious breakfast filled with calcium, vitamins and minerals.  And sugar.  That's the most important breakfast ingredient: sugar.  Why do all of the sugary sweet cereals sell so well? because breakfast needs to be a glucose-fueled upper trip to kick-start your metabolism and get your body shaking off the grogginess of sleep.  It's just common sense.

I know what you're thinking: "Fiber! we need fiber!"  Well, you're wrong.  You've let big cereal manipulate you to buy low-cost filler (corn cobs and wheat stalks) for the sake of fiber.  What they don't tell you is that a few cups of coffee does 10 times the work of a bran muffin.

Here's what I had this morning: a bowl of fruity pebbles (gluten free, might I add), half an orange, a tall glass of apple juice and 2 cups of coffee.  I ran through my morning like a Delorian about to jump to 1955.

It tastes like band-aids.

Soon as I saw they were listing breakfast foods from other countries, I thought "I wonder if they'll list natto for Japan?"  Sure enough.  That's sort of the litmus test for foreigners there; almost every Japanese person asked me whether I liked natto or not.  For me, it's OK.  I can eat it, but if I don't have it, no big deal.  Most foreigners hate it.

Hotels that serve buffet-style breakfast have both Western foods and Japanese foods.  Some of the other Japanese breakfast items include fish, rice, miso soup, and nori (dried seaweed).

I came in here to say pretty much that. I used to get bad stomach/ abdominal cramps almost every day. Then one morning back in junior high school I was running late and skipped breakfast... and no pain or cramps at all.  I've skipped breakfast ever since and I'm not obese. I do have a few extra pounds, but that's probably because I work a desk job and am lazy. And if those extra 10 pounds are a result of shipping breakfast so what? It beats being in pain for half the day.

If you have had natto you would remember. If you didn't vomit at the smell sight or taste and actually liked it the Japanese person who served it to you would make a HUGE deal about you managing to consume it.  Most likely you would just vomit.

You neef to multiply calories eaten by a digestible factor. 2000 calories of pure sugar is not the same effect as 2000 calories of almonds. Look at the poo difference.

Minor differences don't matter when you're trying to lose lots of weight.
