Waits for that picture of the kitten with the oxygen mask so I can be Debby Downer and remind people that small animals do not handle smoke inhalation well...

And yes, the kitten died.

/Sorry. Life is hard like that

Thank goodness they saved the cats.  They were probably food for the snake.

Good thing they saved the cats, otherwise what would the huge ass boa constrictors eat?

Not all boa's get huge subby. You can get a Rosy boa from a pet store that won't get over 3 feet.

After rescuing the 7 foot boa the firefighters noticed their dalmation was missing.

As someone that's been through firefighter training, fark your pets. I've been inside a burning building, even with full PPE, it's hell at best.

You say you all got out but your cat's still inside? Too bad for the cat. We'll control and extinguish, but you're farking crazy if you think for one second I'm risking my life or anyone else's for a damned housepet.

As someone with 3 cats always indoors, I have no problem with this.  As much as I love the little furry bastids, fire, tornado, other emergency, I'll have a quick look if I can to try to toss their butts out/take them with me, but seriously, they're on their own if I can't grab them in 2 seconds flat.  I'll try to leave a door or window open, and good luck.  I would never expect any rescue worker to get them either.

It's a good thing that frankly isn't the only firefighter in town. Most of the firefighters I've met are decent people. They certainly don't spend the day trolling on the internet.

Is that some new sex thing you kids are doing?

It's like a Rosy Trombone, isn't it?

So would have the snake.  They don't breathe through their mouth/nose.  They breathe through their skin.

Fire extinguisher training at your office doesn't count...

I went back in to snag a cat last week, thought it was dead for sure, but the furball was hiding in a closet.  Didn't put my life at risk to do it, but I guess I could've been a dick about it and responded like you.

Also hit a dog with my attack line inside a house last year; it ran back into the fire room, and got crisped as far as I knew.  Viewed rom the outside, a smoking smouldering pooch jumped out the window and off the second floor deck, and only had minor burns, so hey, that worked out.

Cats are resilient.  Ever wonder why feral cats don't die during the awful winters, or the brutally hot summers?  They'll find a way to survive.  I responded to a house fire to assist with traffic control a few years ago.  House was fully engulfed, the FD went defensive and let the house burn to the ground, concentrating only on ensuring it didn't spread to neighboring houses.  All 6 of her cats made it out and lived.
