Even if you are the neighborhood crazy tough guy, you still have to learn when to pick your battles.

\Over a dryer at a laundromat is not one of those times.

No - just a regular trial that ends with tough guy getting a free vacation.

If you're in a public laundromat and some dude tells you that he is using a dryer - whether his clothes are in there or not - asking him if "He owns the dryer?" and calling him an "Idiot" - might cause an altercation...

Find another dryer...

i have no sympathy for this guy...if you are going to insult a man to his face - you better be prepared to square off with him right then and there - and if you get your ass kicked in the process, maybe you learn to keep your big entitled mouth shut.

I'm not saying what the guy did was right or wrong - but when you insult someone to their face you better be ready for the consequences.

if the guy would have just found another dryer - there is nothing more to see here. You argue with someone and insult them - don't whine about the beat down you just received

I lived in an apartment several years ago that had a central laundry room. There was one older guy who lived upstairs from me that I believe took great pleasure in waiting until someone had put their clothes in the dryer and he'd pull your wet clothes out and put his own in, on your time after you'd put in the $1.50.

Several times I called the landlady after finding my wet clothes on the floor and someone else's in the dryer I'd paid time to use. When his lease was up, she told him it wouldn't be renewed and he had to move out. He fought it tooth and nail, refusing to pay his rent for four months until the police finally came and threw his ass out.

I helped the landlady clean the place out after he'd left. somehow, he managed to completely trash the place and she spent close to $15 thou to do all the repairs. This wasn't so much deliberate vandalism, it was just wrecking things from being as stupid as humanly possible. The dishwasher and stove needed to be replaced, (he'd had a fire in the oven at some point from cooking something that wasn't food, melted plastic all over the inside), the kitchen faucet, the refrigerator, the carpet, (he must have been dumping acetone or something on the floor to create the damage) the flooring under the carpet in the bedroom, the vinyl floor in the bathroom, the toilet, the bathtub/shower were all completely ruined by this guy. We never did figure out what he was doing that caused all the damage. It was totally bizarre.

A trash bag and a short walk might have taken care of that problem.

I'm guessing he didn't get his security deposit back.

Whatever dude...yea - I got it wrong on that point - my bad.

"Surveillance video shows the two men arguing for about a minute before the confrontation becomes physical.  "

  - Dimitrelos argued with this guy...over a dryer

"Dimitrelos said he called Wood "an idiot,"

  - Good idea there... genius

"Dimitrelos appears to walk to the suspect before he is pushed to the ground "

 - So he approached the guy before insulting him to his face

So he tried to be a tough guy and got his arse kicked...

Here's a hint people - if you don't want your arse kicked and your property destroyed  - mind your own business, find another option before confronting, arguing and insulting  some random person - You might not be the toughest guy in the laundry room that particular day.

So Dimi escalates a bantering verbal exchange by aggressively approaching another man, giving him just cause to defend himself against an imminent threat, and then:

"He gets up and tries to take out a cell phone, but the suspect throws him to the ground a second time, kicks him and smashes the phone before leaving the laundromat. "

After Wood debuffs the assailant, he witnesses him reaching into his pocket, presumably to pull something out? This moron is lucky he isn't dead. How was Wood to know this creep wasn't pulling a gun out? Especially since the precedent of SYG has been solidified in the case of US v. Martin, Wood would have been well within his God-given rights to shoot this punk dead. Wood clearly showed utmost restraint, choosing to simply parry the attacks against him, signifying training in one of the more humane martial arts, possibly Taekwondo or Jewjitsu, and should be lauded for his cool headed thinking in this life and death situation.

Croesius, did you even watch the video, you fool? He has his cell phone in his hand and is dialing it before the bully attacks him. he 75 years old and half a foot shorter than the thug. That's a jailing, right there. Why don't you go visit him in Florida. You sound like you'd fit right in.

He's lucky it wasn't worse...

Nobody should be assaulting anyone over a verbal altercation - I'm not saying he deserved to be assaulted

There was a peaceful resolution to this situation the whole time - When the guy told him it was his dryer - instead of just finding another one and minding his own business, he created the situation by arguing, confronting and insulting someone - sometimes that sort of tactic doesn't work in your favor.

The moral of the story here is they were both idiots - if you're going to be stupid and jagg some crazy guys wire - you might be assaulted
