Now that Steve Jobs is gone, they'll most likely change the shape into a square, make all the parking spaces too narrow, and paint it in ugly hues.

But those Apple people have to work somewhere, right?

asciibaron: going from any place to another will be a PITA.  now think about the fiber runs.

If they're willing to drop 5B on a new building, I don't think they care they have to spend a few extra hundred thousand to run their fiber in a circle.

Still, horrifically massive new buildings that cost retarded amounts of money usually mean that the company has way more cash than they know what to do with, and that money should be returned back to shareholders in dividend form.

HotIgneous Intruder: Walled garden?

Actually... that's not a bad description for an apple HQ, all things considered.

/Personally I think its a grand waste of space, but the building does look kind of cool.
/Its their money to spend.

I find it interesting that all the glowing mockups with light rays shining from them somehow don't seem to portray a single car, or parking lot/garage/, or even a road to the building.  Are they just expecting employees to take a transporter?

I was wondering this myself. It must have underground parking.

I seem to recall that it does, in addition to remote lots and shuttle buses.

Well, it does kind of remind me of Jobs.  After all, it does look like a giant a55hole.

He's worried God might count it as a sin if he wrote "ass".

God is obviously fooled by 1337-speak.

Historically, organizations build giant, insanely expensive headquarters just before melting down.

Don't be silly, you know Apple products are made in 3rd world countries were labor is cheap an no health care issues to deal with.

This Luddite likes it.  Considering it's California, it's going to kick ass to walk through a forest to get to the other side of the building.  On the off-chance it's raining, the circular hallway will feel like the 2001 space station.
