(Examiner)   Vegas odds are 500-to-1 that Steve Jobs will never stop spinning in his grave after Obama compared Obamacare glitches to Apple when Obamacare enrollment failed. (Since when did buying Apple products become the law like Obamacare, Mr. President?)   (examiner.com) divider line 99

Good LORD there is a lot of butthurt here. Good thing you can't be turned away for pre-existing conditions, Subby.

Is subby perhaps asserting that every single one of Apple's product launches has gone off with 100% success, or that Apple has never had any glitches in its hardware or software?

I went to the website just to check it out and had issues creating a login; (it wouldn't give me any backup security questions, but insisted that I provide answers).  No biggie (even if I *WAS* looking for health insurance).

Most websites roll out new content slowly so that they can quickly catch problems before a ton of people encounter them (this is why I always hear people complain about the 'new' Facebook for 2 weeks before I ever see it).  Unfortunately, if they did that with the ACA website, I can't even begin to imagine all of the conspiracy theories that would come out about who got to access it on day one and why.

The Affordable Care Act is the law.
Congress passed it and the Supreme Court has ruled it Constitutional.

So now these (R) republickers don't want me to buy health insurance so they closed my National Park.

Wait, is that what's causing this?

2013-10-02 09:30:40 AM
I think it was Sebellius that said that.

Also

the comparison fell embarrassingly flat for the president when, near-and-far, it was noted that people don't have to buy Apple products by law, as people now have to purchase health insurance.

That wasn't really the point of the comparison, but I could see how a retard would see this as a gotcha.

Furthermore, if a person wants to purchase technology, one has many options by simply going to another name-brand product

You can do that on the exchange too. Do people really think you log on and get one option named "Obamacare"? Or you can just go get insurance on your own, or just pay a small tax to not deal with any of it. Just like conservatives wanted prior to the election of a black president.

2013-10-02 09:34:41 AM
Dear god, I got in an argument with a Teatard over this last night (the buying apple products become law part). I didn't realize it was an official talking point. I thought they were just being retarded.

You're giving them WAY too much credit.  I cringe every time I see someone enlightened idiot make a comment along the lines of, "If ObamaCare is so great, how come federal employees have their own health insurance plan and don't have to get it?  They should have to have ObamaCare just like the rest of us."

2013-10-02 09:35:22 AM
Alright, who's the waterheaded thundertard who wrote that headline? Do you mean to tell me that you honestly don't know what an analogy is or what that particular analogy is illustrating? I find it hard to believe that you'd honestly be that stupid and manage to not chew on your keyboard, so you must be being intentionally obtuse or dishonest.

Stop treating politics like a sports rivalry, dumbass.

2013-10-02 09:35:32 AM
This is a lot of butthurt of Day 1 glitches in response to OVERWHELMING PUBLIC DEMAND (which might clue some people into how badly this health care reform is needed and wanted by the public, but whatever).

But fear not.  Health insurance plans purchased on the exchanges don't take effect until Jan. 1st next year anyway.  Whether people are able to sign up on Day 1 or instead wait until Day 2 or Day 5 or Day 30 doesn't make a damn bit of difference.

2013-10-02 09:35:37 AM
Unfortunately, it was a futile effort because the millions of people were unable to sign on to the web site due to an alleged "glitch" in the system already.

Really? "Alleged"? You have GOT to be shiatting me. Explain exactly how it would benefit ANYone, Obama included, to have a delay in this.

Responding to the frustrations persons had with the first day and their highly-anticipated first experience with the controversial new law, Obama spoke about the problems with program's initial hours by comparing it to persons' troubles with Apple - when something goes awry with a new technological product. The comparison fell embarrassingly flat for the president when, near-and-far, it was noted that people don't have to buy Apple products by law, as people now have to purchase health insurance.

And what the fark does THAT have to do with making a comparison that on any large product rollout, there are inevitably issues?

Enrollment for the 20214 health benefits reportedly goes through March 31, and coverage chosen by Dec. 15 takes effect on Jan. 1.

That's absolutely AWESOME in an article that does nothing but biatch about how the federal government is so inept that they can't even manage a simple website...

The only way you are FORCED to use healthcare.gov is if you demand to get subsidies for your health insurance. It would be like saying your friend FORCED you to buy an iPod because they gave you a gift certificate for the Apple store when what you might have preferred a Zune.

To be fair, computers and Inter-thingies are stuff only big city homosexuals use to spread their liberal propaganda. Jesus and Ronald Reagan didn't need the Internet, so neither does America.

Conservatives seem to think this, yes.  They seem to believe that the ACA is a single government-run health plan akin to Medicare.

That's the only conclusion I can draw from stupid conservative media "gotcha" points and questions about "exemptions from Obamacare."  The ACA requires that everyone have some kind of health insurance.  If you have employer-sponsored coverage, you're fine and fully compliant with the law.  The exchanges were created mainly for people who don't have employer-sponsored coverage.  If you don't sign-up on the exchanges because you already have employer-sponsored coverage (as say, the President, members of Congress, and most other Americans do) - that's not an exception.  That's the way the ACA is supposed to work!

He was basically just saying Knuth's law applies to (ironically) laws.  Transcribed appropriately:  "For every non-trivial law, there exists at least one injustice."  That's no more an indictment on having laws than the original is an indictment of having software.

I had already evaluated my local plans a week in advance suspecting that there might be issues.

The first day my college classmates could schedule classes for the next semester - the website would crash.

When Fark watches election debates - the site crashes. Reddit does the same.

What the author leaves out is how the internets work. The Obamacare site wants to deliver vast amounts of information over the Internet. And again, the Internet is not something that you just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material! Obamacare cannot be fixed without expanding tube sizes across the internets. And whose going to pay for that? The American taxpayer at a cost of a brazilian dollars per man, woman and child! And that is why Obamacare is a failure and we should defund\repeal it.

// Vote Republican!
