Don't sniff, a small popcorn costs like $40.

Don't biatch. It's better than a kick in the nuts.

AMC should be bringing everyone back to the table and negotiating a way past this, duh.  Why are letting them off the hook?

Kinda like a bar putting out a bowl of salted pretzels or peanuts.  I'm sure the soda still costs $5.50 for a small.

This made me think of an old, old, incredibly old-school Doonesbury strip wherein a furloughed federal employee went to the unemployment office and was told that all they could get was free movie tickets. After complaining about not being able to eat, the kind bureaucrat at the window reminded him that he and his family were eligible for popcorn benefits.

I'm digging; perhaps I'll be able to turn it up eventually.

I'm just here for the popcorn...

If the offer's valid in Aurora this could substantially reduce governmental labour costs.

/too soon?

Government employees are moochers. They receive enough stuff already, at our expense, and now AMC theaters are going to be subsidising their popcorn with our entertainment dollars.

Because you've still got to buy a $15 movie ticket?

You know how I know you didn't RTFA?

The purchase of a ticket is not necessary to receive the offer.

now they'll have something to eat while reading the Fark threads about the shutdown.

2013-10-02 09:23:33 AM

/it is, i guess, a nice gesture though

Me thinks subby is a jealous teabagger.

Because subby is a hater and when you hate someone/thing, you're more likely to find offense in everything they do

I wasn't aware that AMC owed them anything at all.

It's not JUST Federal employees dagnabbit!  Many, many non-civil servant contractor employees work for the government and are not getting paid right now either.  And there's almost no way we'll even get retroactive pay.  We deserve free popcorn too!!  Are we not also human?

You know, I really need to get a job in the corn business.  You just can't lose.

Pfft. Z Burger in DC is handing out freaking burgers! One of the best burgers in town or that dessicated Styrofoam that passes for theater popcorn? (Now with Golden Topping!)

2013-10-02 12:18:40 PM
Nice, they are handing out the stale corn from the previous day instead of sending it to the dumpster.

Out here, beyond the boundaries of Washington's Schwarzschild Radius of Total Destruction Physics, we've not noticed a damn thing.

Keep it shut down. Hell, fire everybody in the federal establishment and Save The Republic

No, that's the thing about the smalls. They cost a lot and are actually small. I once figured that if the large is so big and hardly more expensive, the smalls must be pretty big, too. I asked to see the size of a small and then laughed because it is the size of a small child's cup.

Wait a second... Labour? You're one of those illegal aliens I keep hearing about, aren't you? Coming down here, sucking up all our commercialized healthcare.
