Mark Meadows?

AKA Cap'n Tripps?

I thought this New Yorker piece on this was pretty good, especially this paragraph:

These eighty members represent just eighteen per cent of the House and just a third of the two hundred and thirty-three House Republicans. They were elected with fourteen and a half million of the hundred and eighteen million votes cast in House elections last November, or twelve per cent of the total. In all, they represent fifty-eight million constituents. That may sound like a lot, but it's just eighteen per cent of the population.

We should have recognized his stench when we came aboard.

Alright, my list of people I'd really like to punch in the dick has shifted a bit this morning. Congratulations, Mr. Meadows, you're number 1.

That's a good article.  The number of articles today linking to it is testimony to its quality.

I think one area where it is weak is that it implies that 1/3 of the GOP House is holding the rest of the causus hostage.  The reason Boner isn't puting a clean CR to the House floor is because more republicans agree with the 80 who signed the letter.  They were just too chickenshiat to sign.

According to that story, there's a letter that conveniently lists another 79 folks to add to your list. I'd like to change it though from "punch in a dick" to "repeatedly punched in the crotch to the point where there's bone in your stool."

I'll take Tyranny of the Majority over the Insanity of the Minority at this point. You have a better chance of reasoning with tyranny.

You know... I honestly did not know that our state's breakdown had actually now gone national.  Our state is lost.. Gone.  We never understood the opposition.

Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever ...   You still don't get it, do you? That's what he does! That's ALL he does! You can't stop him!

What's happening in NC terrifies me as an Iowan (similar population, similar politics a decade ago). We trend blue at times, but Big Farm money could easily push the entire state to the level of Steve King's supporters.

So, we have another radicalist, anti-government psychopath who, as a freshman Congressman, has managed to do what Al-Queida, the British Crown and the Slave States of the South failed to do over the last 240 years.

I suppose this is the primary purpose of eliminating the education system in the U.S. Defund the education system, thereby making sure people are uneducated, so you can claim superiority over them by your superior education, and then claim that people just aren't educated enough to make their own decisions.

Seditionist, insurrectionist, traitor.

Seriously, the only thing holding most people back from torching some rich people sh*t and hanging you stupid mothers is that the vast majority of the middle to upper middle class still has jobs and with it food and personal comforts that go along with it. Wrecking the economy by holding the government hostage is not making us any less pitchforky.

I have ZERO sympathy for all the leeches in western NC that are dependent on the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and other national facilities for tourism dollars, especially given that it's peak leaf season there. You guys wanted this. Go starve for a bit and get back to me.

Frankly, we should be withholding Social Security and military paychecks too.

NeverDrunk23: What the fark made NC ramp up the insanity lately? Are they trying to outdo Texas and Arizona?

2010 Tea Party victory gave NC power which they used to gerrymander districts. Big money (Art Pope and such) went into NC in local elections. That explains the legislative branch.

Dems have typically held governorship, but Bev Perdue, who was a complete waste of space IMO, said she wasn't running late into her first term and gave the Democrats no time to come up with a decent challenger to McCrory.

That's basically why it's so backwards right now.

My wife and I moved to NC back in 1984. We're both seriously considering moving to another state if the voters don't rein in the crazy that's exploded throughout this state in the last few years.

/haven't decided which state yet though

There is a difference. The Heritage Fdn is conservative and they designed the individual mandate for health insurance. They understand that it unfairly distributes the cost of insurance and health care when you have a system where not everyone is required to have insurance but everyone is entitled to health care.
The party and ironically enough the Heritage Fdn have been high-jacked by the Tea-Party (go look at Jim Demint he is running Heritage now and focusing all of their resources on repeal of the ACA)

I'll make this easy for you -

Your party passed a bill that no one read just so we could in the words of fancy Nancy "find out what's in it".

You did this without republican support. It's been an abject failure in the pre-rollout stage, the rollout looks more like a SimCity launch than anything that is supposed to actually do something. OH and it's going to cost 36.4 Billion dollars.

So when you say "stop farking this country up" I suggest you take a good long look in the mirror you asshat.

So incredibly false. You seriously think no one read the ACA before it was passed? Your failure to provide the rest of the quote is also telling.

youmightberight: You did this without republican support. It's been an abject failure in the pre-rollout stage, the rollout looks more like a SimCity launch than anything that is supposed to actually do something. OH and it's going to cost 36.4 Billion dollars.

Republicans flat-out refused to play any role in directly crafting the bill, so it's hilarious to hear "without Republican support" at this date. You had your opportunity to work with the Democrats but instead said "go fark yourselves" and decided lockstep opposition was the way to go.

Also, define "abject failure" and cite your source for "36.4 billion dollars", which is actually extremely cheap when it comes to large federal programs.

When a Conservatives President was elected, they were able to invade Iraq, torture people and fark up FEMA.

Democrats are elected, they get to try and make health insurance coverage more universal.  You are allowed to disagree with the ruling party but you have to admit when you lost.

I didn't vote for the guy, so give me some slack.  But N.C. really disappointed me in the last election.  The dems really didn't put up many reasonable, qualified candidates.  Period.  So, of course this is what we and the country get.  WE should be ashamed.  And trust me, I am.  I don't know how much longer I can hold out.  The crap that's going on in the government, the constant reminder that I'm a less-than-equal citizen, it's really all too much.

Can someone explain to me how obamacare is bad?  You are eliminating free poor healthcare essentially..  You can't afford good healthcare, no problem.  You pay only this much a month, but your deductible is $10k when you do get sick.  Now even the poor get to pay healthcare like the rest of us middle class schmoes, and I no longer take a bite in my paycheck to pay for all those people getting free medical care.
