The fact is that Washington Democrats have slammed the door on reopening the government by refusing to engage in bipartisan talks.

Never has a "speaker" had so little to say.

For years, the president has said that in a divided government, no one gets 100% of what they want. But when will his words match his actions?

How about when he gets 98% of it you big orange douche.

You had your chance to negotiate on the ACA in 2009.  You chose not to participate then, and it's too late now.  That was YOUR choice.  OWN UP TO IT.

/party of personal responsibility my ass

For whatever reason this made me want to make do a mad-libs for congressional bills

Boehner is trying to save his orange, leathery skin.

The fact is that Boehner can propose a clean continuing resolution and get the votes for it, but he hears Eric Cantor sharpening his knife behind him and knows he will be cannibalized by the Tea Party.

HotIgneous Intruder: Boner needs to behead himself on live TV.

If they made that PPV, you could probably cut the federal debt in half.

2013-10-02 09:02:05 AM
A large majority of the House would support a clean CR.

A large majority of the Senate would support a clean CR.

The President would gladly sign a clean CR.

The only reason that this hasn't happened is that you're a spineless coont who is afraid that you might lose your job, you sniveling orange weasel.

2013-10-02 09:02:25 AM
I have read several articles and seen and heard several news shows that point out that the Republicans are pathological liars.  It seems they can't even tell the truth when it is something small.   We need a translator application to convert the lies they are saying into something which makes sense.

2013-10-02 09:03:17 AM
First, we tried passing a law. The Democrats said no. Then we tried passing the same law with a different title. They said no to that too. Then we tried again but with a third title. The Democrats said no. Then we tried with the third title again, just in case, and the Democrats said no again. Why won't they negotiate?

2013-10-02 09:03:36 AM
Look at Boehner try to spin his leadership failure, look at him and laugh.

2013-10-02 09:03:58 AM
Every time, EVERY TIME, I hear a clip of him speaking, he's saying things so blatantly untrue that I end up screaming at the radio or TV.

There's many reasons you can't negotiate with this man.. you can't trust anything he says, and the House Republicans don't listen to him.  So why talk to him at all?

And, as stories across the country highlight the devastating impact of Obamacare on families and small businesses, they continue to reject our calls for fairness for all Americans.

Sorry, but it's helping my family.

This is part of a larger pattern: the president's scorched-Earth policy of refusing to negotiate in bipartisan way on his health care law, current government funding, or the debt limit.

You want to negotiate? You guys did back in 09/10. You lost.

There is no way Congress can or should pass such a bill without spending cuts and reforms to deal with the debt and deficit and help get our economy moving again.

STFU, GBTW and work on a budget. Senate passed one back in March and you guys refused to even look at it.

they continue to reject our calls for fairness for all Americans

Does anyone really believe republicans are for fairness for all Americans? even their constituency either likes them because they are mega rich and getting a financial benefit or because they are sticking it to the libs.

2013-10-02 09:05:42 AM
Pubs want compromise huh?

How about this....

You guys want a free-market healthcare system (i.e., the way it was a few years ago). Dems want Single-Payer. Let's compromise

***drum-roll***

And we are back at the ACA which we have now. done.

2013-10-02 09:06:10 AM
what, 2 days after  Bachderp said the GOP owned it?

wtf.  and 40% of 'meritards will lap it up.

They're for fairness to all Americans, as long as you don't consider anyone who is LGBTQ, non-white, female, under 50, and worth less than $5m to be "American."

You missed one demographic: "church-goers who have never comprehended the messages in the New Testament."

I can't even bring myself to call them "Christians" these days... My agnostic ass follows Christ's teachings more closely than 90% of those needy, self-absorbed pricks.

It's going to go until the debt ceiling vote.

Boehner would get too much heat for caving twice in as many weeks. So to save face, he'll wrap it all up with one vote, with a clean CR and a debt-ceiling extension. Then he only has to look bad "once"

I have serious doubts that Congressional Republicans will suffer any meaningful negative consequences. The last shutdown cost the GOP a grand total of 4 seats in the House in the immediate next election.

"We want to raze the fields and salt the earth, but Obama and his allies in the Senate refuse to compromise. It's time for both sides to compromise in the spirit of bipartisanship, and pass a bill that merely razes the fields. In a divided government, no side can get 100% of what they want."

With enough people you can create your own bubble reality.  The teabaggers, monied interests (Kochs, Freedomworks, American for Prosperity, etc.), and the ubiquitous right wing noise machine provide both the infrastructure and growth medium.

THat may not me a bad thing.  If it lasts as long as the credit ceiling expiration then any solution to the shutdown will need to include a resolution to both issues: a CR that funds the government for a reasonable time AND a debt ceiling that will allow the government to work.  Remember the list of demand Boner made to increase the debt ceiling?  If the shutdown last though the debt ceiling then Boner and the GOP won't be in a position to make additional demands.

Sorry, but to think that John Boehner is ignorant of the mistruths would be a silly.  John Boener is no longer a public servant.  He is a jester, playing to a cruel, ignorant court.  His only choice is to dance and sing and say the things that a cruel and ignorant audience would find amusing.  John Boener says these words, not because he believes them, but because saying those words gives him a position of power and privilege, and the alternative isn't death, but expulsion from the seat of opulent power.

John Boener is a whore, with no moral conviction past staying within that bubble of privilege as long as he can, knowing it will all fall down soon.

So STFU and DO YOUR FARKING JOB!!!

2013-10-02 09:19:34 AM
Is there a mechanism that Congress can use to cut through the BS?  I mean, when majorities in both houses would vote for a bill and the President would sign it but because some moron won't bring it to a vote.... you'd think there would be a way around that, especially when it brings our country to a screeching halt.

Can you forcibly remove a Speaker?

Two of the three parties that have to agree against you.  What do you do?

Act like a petulant child.  Lie to your dumbfark constituents so you have "grassroots" support.  And write stupid Op Ed.s that ignore half the facts about what is going on and point the finger.

This is the worst speaker of the house the country has ever seen.

This fiasco will make it harder for the GOP to take the Senate which, to me, is a pretty big win for the Dems.

2013-10-02 09:21:02 AM
As of this morning, Senate Democrats, acting in concert with President Obama, have rejected four different proposals from the House of Representatives to keep the government running and fund basic services.

That's only true if you don't consider affordable health care to be a 'basic service'.

Why won't Obama listen when Boehner makes offers he knows are unacceptable?

They were insane enough to fark with the debt ceiling to get the sequester in place.

They were insane enough to shut down the government because they don't like Obamacare.

They are insane enough to fark with the debt ceiling again.

Reality does not matter to these people.

It is not a bad thing for so many idiots to see what their "intrusive government" does without them knowing so that we can have an open society where we don't have to worry about whether or not our food is bad, whether there is water to drink, or whether the airplane we are betting our life on is mechanically safe.  It is bad, though, if people (of any political persuasion) have to die to prove the point.

Only if the people of the country think this through sanely, which in my case (in Indiana) I am not seeing at all right now.

Useful clarification about any "clean CR" which Republicans have taken hostage:

Discretionary spending has been slashed to the bone during a recession and weak recovery. This is literally lunacy.
