All I want Celtic to do is to make it a game. After seeing Real royally mess up against Atletico, I need something to cheer me up.

Tricky game today for Arsenal. YOU CAN DO IT, GUNNERS!

2013-10-01 02:53:13 PM
I've managed to find the dodgiest pub in Limehouse. On the bright side, they have both Doom Bar and the Gunners in the Telly. Game on!

I hate these days. I can only watch one...but which?  SO MANY DECISIONS!

/needs more monitors at work

Özil, rather. It didn't even look like a shot. He just casually passed the ball into the goal with his first touch.

If I wasn't watching Arsenal, I'd definitely be watching Celtic/Barcelona

Celtic may be the one due to Messi and some central Barca defenders being out, as well as it being in Glasgow.

I saw something goal.com that Ajax/Milan should be a goal fest, which made me laugh.

Basel stopped surprising me a while ago, so beating Shalke isn't an upset.

As much as I'd like it, I don't think Steaua can beat Chelsea. Though they do have a nice full stadium in Bucharest.

Iberian Derby?

And finally, Dortmund better get their shiat together or they're going to be out in a hurry.

/Starting with Porto v Athletico, while checking in on Celtic v Barca and Ajax v Milan to see if I was wrong.

I'm very impressed with Samaras tonight.

Flamini talked to, but that was a clean tackle. He's gotta be careful--his reputation precedes him

I read today that at 6 mil Euros, he was the highest transfer fee for a Greek player. I found that hard to believe, but he's great.

In a rare instance, I have a choice of either Ajax vs. AC Milan or Celtic vs. Barcelona...decisions decisions.

I'm just pissed they got rid of one of the soccer channels, and replaced it w/ something called Fox Sports 2 that doesn't come in HD. It's like one of those old boardwalk movie boxes, the picture is so small and crappy.

I broke down and got Fox Soccer 2 Go so I can watch the game I want on my computer or iPad. I know I could get a feed, but so often the feeds suck.

I should go back to my hotel room and catch up on sleep, but £3.50 Doom Bars are too good a deal to pass up

2013-10-01 03:58:30 PM
Also because Arsenal I suppose.

2013-10-01 04:01:32 PM
Either Arsenal are one of the best 3 teams in Europe or Serie A is utter shiate

Okay...the Celtic captain was just red carded for stupidity.  Still scoreless but Celtic now down a man.

Just saw that. Looked really questionable to me.

2013-10-01 04:04:26 PM
I agree with the foul but not a card being shown.  It looked like he may have kicked the guy in the back while he was down, judging by his reaction, but I didn't see it.

2013-10-01 04:08:30 PM
You can have that shot all night, Napoli

2013-10-01 04:10:02 PM
And that one

2013-10-01 04:10:45 PM
Yeah, he took a little kick, and Neymar acted as if he'd been shot. I couldn't even tell if the kick made contact.

2013-10-01 04:12:21 PM
That one, too

He's in the same team as Busquets, and Neymar already had a diving reputation. He's been taking tips I see.

Haha, they're shooting from way, way out. Would like to see Arsenal get a third, though. Napoli away will NOT be an easy match.

Like a Brazilian needs to learn how to dive from a Spaniard. An Italian, maybe, but not a Spaniard.

Barcelona scores with a beautiful breakaway and the keeper is hung out to dry.

2013-10-01 04:20:54 PM
Right after I tweet that Cesc is useless as a False 9 for Barcelona, he scores. Literally it took him 30 seconds. Fark me.

I stand by the statement though. Cesc killed SO many good attacks from Barcelona tonight. He just has not chemistry with Neymar when the two are both playing as forwards. Cesc as a midfield is great with Barcelona when used right, Cesc as a False 9 not so much.

It might just take time for him and Neymar to gel properly. Neymar's fantastic and Cesc is excellent; I'd be shocked if they didn't find chemistry soon.

If the result stands, at least Celtic made a game of it. Can't be ashamed of that.

2013-10-01 04:27:53 PM
Agreed.  A valiant effort to be sure.  Barcelona is lucky to be escaping this match with the win, thanks in no small part to an unjust red card.

He can learn new diving techniques in Spain. He just needs to get a loan spell in Italy to become the best diver the world has ever seen.

It's a shame, because Xavi and Iniesta are so good about not diving. I will say, though, that you can't really expect 5'8 guys who weigh 130 lbs to take a foul the same way as some of the bigger players.

Xavi's by far the Barcelona player I respect the most. Pure class, never got an ego. Great player to have on any team.

Ajax finally get the winner they deserve at 90 min.

All we need is to steal a point from Dortmund, and advancement is a formality

Barcelona holds on to win 1-0 over Celtic.  Ajax robbed of 3 points to tie AC Milan 1-1

Did I say winner?...

90 min goal for Ajax cancelled by Balotelli drawing a cheap foul at the 6 yard box.

They already have decent chemistry when Cesc is a midfielder and Neymar is a forward. Today though Barcelona was continuing the "Cesc as a False 9" experiment and it's just not working. Cesc works best when they let him roam and play as more or less a #10, otherwise he's less than fantastic for Barcelona in my opinion.
