There is no indication that the shooting had anything to do with the Family Feud tryout.
If he had shopped at Home Depot and picked up a meal at KFC before shooting his wife, would they have reported that too?

Quite the feud, but isn't it supposed to be between families, not within them?

Ray Combs used to be the host back in the 90's and committed suicide.

I just noticed this gem:

"They had their ups and downs, like any marriage. But nothing this extreme," Coutee said.

No shiat.

Marcus T. Crosby and family members tried out for the popular game show on Sunday, but his wife, Kearra Hosey did not, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation. A person at the couple's home, who did not want to be identified, confirmed the tryout. A spokeswoman for "Family Feud" said production staffers were in transit Monday and could not confirm the appearance.

So again just because he did it then doesn't mean that Family Feud is the cause.  Unless you are going with since she didn't go for the tryout he blamed her for not being on the show and killing her and himself which is one hell of a stretch.  You don't just wake up and kill someone and yourself you usually have thought about it for a good amount of time.

Holy shiat.  Listen, genius.   The show is Family Feud.  You see, it's a game show and the premise is a 'feud'.  That is, a bitter continuous hostility between two or more parties.  "Family Feud" the television program is not a real feud, mind you.  It's just a game.

The couple involved in the case had a literal feud betwixt them.  This lead to a murder suicide.  Not a play feud.  An honest to goodness hostility.

The guy responsible for the violence tried out for a t.v. show that pretends to pit folks against one another in a mock feud just before bringing a real life feud to its ultimate conclusion.  The game show didn't lead to the death but it's an interesting juxtaposition.  In a case such as this, the same could not be said for a trip to a mega store or fried chicken chain.

These things take time to foster and a 'last straw' to produce.  I don't think anyone is suggesting that this guy's last disappointment was the sole cause of the breakdown.  But the feud can play tricks with a man's mind.

Crosby had threatened to shoot her and that he kept a handgun in his dresser drawer and a Taser in his bedroom

On Sept. 16, 2012, Joliet police arrested Crosby for domestic battery

he pushed her down the stairs
...order of protection against...was granted

Hosey also got an order of protection against Crosby in May 2000

Joliet Township High School District 204 confirmed that Crosby was a member of the security staff at Joliet Central.

The feud is between both families not inter-family feud.  Have you ever even watched the show?

Right.  And each episode of the t.v. program does not end with a murder suicide.  (at least, it's not supposed to).  The game show is not a 1 to 1 analogue for this violent event.  If you honestly don't get it, I don't think I can help you at this point.  I did my best.

Okay, we're here at the Lightning Round where you can win $20,000. Are you ready, Kearra Hosey? I'm going to ask you 5 questions. 100 people polled. First question: On Valentines Day, what does a man give his wife?
Kearra Hosey: An ass whoopin'

Okay. Second questions: What do couples like to take out?
Kearra Hosey: Restraining orders! Orders of Protection!

Fine. Third question: What do men like to do when they get home after a hard day of work?
Kearra Hosey: Yell empty accusations at me and threaten violence!

Next question: Name a popular desert
Kearra Hosey: uhhh.... Pass!

We'll come back to it if there's time. Last question: Where do you put your cell phone at night?
Kearra Hosey: With the matron at the women's shelter!

Okay. Missed question: Name a popular desert.
Kearra Hosey: Ice cream!

Ice cream?
Kearra Hosey: No! I scream until someone calls 911!

You're right. It appears to be so far from a 1 to 1 analogue that it's is barely relevant or all that interesting to the case.

I'm pretty sure multiple protection orders, some domestic violence charges and being threatened with a deadly weapon isn't "like any marriage".
And it's kinda hard to have anything "this extreme" happen more than once.

This just in:  People who sell news stories use "hooks".  Do you honestly, I mean honestly, not see grasp why the author did what they did?  Seriously?  Does this really frighten and confuse as large a segment of the population as it appears to from this thread?

With the divorce rate around 50%, I bet this is more common that you might like to admit.

I am thinking it went a little like this...

Crosby - "We went out for Family Feud, but we didn't get it."
Hosey - "Thats because your entire family are idiots."
Crosby - BLAM BLAM "OMG, I AM an idiot!"
BLAM

From what I read in the article, he and the family went to the tryouts, and for some reason, the wife did not go along.  My guess is that they where rejected and he went home and blamed it on her not showing up with the rest of the family...  Then got all shooty about it...

The naked woman almost fell out of bed when she saw her husband walk in the room carrying a gun, catching her with her lover.  They scream at each other for a moment, then the husband lifts the gun and points it to his head.  The naked guy starts to laugh, and the husband tells him, "Don't laugh, you two are next."

The power of the Wu-Tang Clan strike again. They were more accurate than Nostradamus. Just substitute Richard Dawson with Steve Harvey.
