Of course they do.  They need it to survive.  We just put it on our phooooooone and then txt our BFFs about teh cute kitties.  While driving.  At 60.  And then forget the content of the message we typed as soon as we hit enter.  If linear print dismantled our long term memories when we were able to start writing sh*t down quickly and cheaply, then digital data transfer is gonna play hell with our short term memories.  Aw, wait.. kitty!

Video: Even monkeys can remember 10 numbers. Are you dumber than a monkey?

Wiggum: How big of a monkey?

Ah. There it is. Thanks.

Congress?  They'd be more effective voters because they wouldn't have Etch-A-Sketch moments when it comes to politicians' mistakes, and they'd vote the idiots out!

Yes, but chimps can't google whatever they want to know.  Why should I fill up my brain with shiat that's on the internet?

You hear tell of people with impressive memories because they work at them, while we don't need to remember anything today so it all fades. Are chimps better than the best memory people, or are they better than me, because I never have to try to remember anything?

If the submitter is suggesting we replace the current Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches of our government with monkeys more intelligent than the current lot, I would say we should be able to do even better than that. I want Dolphin or higher.

We're finding that what we consider intelligence isn't all that special, or hard to emulate. Logic, math, memory recall? Meh.

I wouldn't hold out too much hope for governmental reform from the dolphins.

Dolphins may be dumber than we think

Patiently waiting for cyber brains. All the worlds knowledge and porn, and a place to back up my ghost.

Looks like those clowns in congress have done it again.  What a bunch of clowns.

Well... they DO have a bit less to remember.  Only so much space in this swiss cheese brain

2013-10-01 01:06:44 PM
And the chimps would have much more integrity, and care about who their actions affected.

2013-10-01 01:12:14 PM
Do you remember that disparaging remark about chimpanzees that you made in an internet forum in April of 2002?

I do.

Did they compare to humans raised in an oral culture? Because there's evidence that cultures without writing have better memorization skills than cultures that wrote books.

As Einstein famously said -- why memorize something you can look up?

Memorizing != Intelligent

I've said for years it's just a stupid monkey trick. Yet it's how we pigeon hole people in academia.

Congresspeople? I agree!

Think about where every tool, book, CD, coat, shirt, pair of shoes, hat, and frying pan that you own and where it is right now. That's a lot to remember.

How many of these things do apes need to keep track of?
