Yeah, and Bill Curry and Bob Prince will be in the dugout. (dug up)

It would be great if the Buccos moved further along in the post-season, but I'm not holding my breath. A winning season is all we really wanted.

Everyone loves an underdog, and the Pirates are some of the underiest dogs around.

As a Braves fan it is my duty to remind Pirates fans of the last time they were in the playoffs.

You're welcome.

bluorangefyre: blah, blah, blah.

I would love nothing more than seeing the Buccos knock McCann and the Braves on their asses.  As is par for the course for the Braves and postseason play.

The way dem Stillers have been playing, who knows maybe bizarro season will take them to the world se....I'm sorry, I can't even finish that with a straight face.  Glad they were invited to the post season at least, though.

This. Though a win would be nice. Revenge on the Braves would be better yet. Winning the World Series is almost beyond comprehension, but it's within reach. One game at a time.

I gotta say as a cardinal fan, I'm torn between supporting either team. Pirates have been a great sparring partner all season. But the thing is, they could beat us as well.

Both the Pirates and the Reds are dangerous teams. The NL is stacked this year; any of the five postseason teams stands a credible chance of winning the World Series.

Yeah, the only AL team I'd pick over any NL team in the World Series is the Red Sox.  Beyond that, I think that the NL team will take it.

I'm hoping the Pirates get passed this wild card game and kick the shiat out of the Cards and Braves/Dodgers, I've been rooting for them all season.

I hope the Reds baserunners don't clog up the bases tonight

I am torn tonight as I like both teams.  Only beer and the play on the field will sort this out!

Dusty will inevitably do something stupid to lose the game. In fact, he probably already did it by playing the starters in a meaningless game to end the season.

I'd love a Pittsburgh - Cleveland WS. Won't happen.

Oakland was 13-7 against the NL and finished with 96 wins; tied with the Braves and one behind the Cards and Red Sox. They must suck.

The A's will beat Detroit, but the rest of the way is a toss up.

/LETS GO OAKLAND (clap... clap... clap-clap-clap)

Go Bucs!

Go Pirates!  A season of destiny is every sports fan's dream, and no team this year deserves it more.

Do you know what's waiting beyond that beach? Immortality! Take it! It's yours!

And then there's the I-71 Series possibility... Reds and Tribe. Again, it's as likely as Congress suddenly getting along w/each other.

I don't even care about baseball that much.  My dad's the big Reds fan, not me.  Yet here I am, awaiting the first pitch of the postseason.

Best of luck to both teams and to the Farkers rooting for them.

It's been a long year.  (lgt Opening Day thread)

Somehow, I don't think even Dusty can mess this up...  and the Cards have to be mortal sometime.

If the Reds can win out of the NL Central, I'll call the season right there.

that costs $3 extra. Can't take post-dated checks.

I know my friend (the Pittsburgh semi-native) doesn't really get this whole "successful baseball team" thing, but I'll still say it:

Hoist the Jolly Roger, and let's go Bucs!

Typical Reds pitcher fielding. The starting 5 should get the Gold Glove as a group. The relievers.... eh.

He's got a right shoulder issue, which may limit his time in the outfield. But all indications are that he will be in the lineup come Friday.

Well that's good... great talent, fun to watch. Homerun Derby was a trip w/him in it. Personally I'd prefer a Reds/A's World Series rubber match to anything that includes the Dodgers.

I think we can all agree that the Dodgers need to go home.
