Another big useless distraction to control the masses.

I am currently embroiled against my better judgement with a Facebook person who insists that the government shutdown happened because "Obama cheats."  Cheats?  Exactly what spoiled children say when they don't get their way in a game, and I told this person so.  I don't know why I bother....

I never would of thought it would be possible for me to lose any more respect for teabaggers, but it's been happening like four or five times a day lately.  Apparently it is possible to lose respect for people you thought you had no respect for.

You never saw democrats making demands at the American People's expense when the Cheney Administration was giving away Clinton's budget surplus.

What the hell are the other 31% thinking? I mean I know there's a certain percent of people who will support the republicans no matter what they do but it can't be 31%.

Because that was treason at the time.

You are not losing respect your contempt is growing. There is no upper limit for that.

The fact that the percentage of people blaming the Democrats or Obama for this above the single digits is amazing, and sad.  Do Republican legislators have to go out and start kicking puppies and punching babies for everyone to realize that they're cold heartless bastards?

Not surprising really...the GOP really are acting like spoiled children right now. The republican excuses for this shut down mess simply do not work outside the republican echo chamber.

Quite a few Americans view politics like a sporting event, and they root for "their team", even if "their team" has an 0-16 record and can't even snap the football.

It's very sad.

Interesting stat from that one:

Only 38% of Republicans approve of the way Republicans in Congress are acting, while 62% of Democrats approve of the way Democrats in Congress are handling things.

Considering that they're doing it to preserve tiny percentage points of profit and essentially what amounts to executive bonus structures, yeah, it kind of is.

The insurance companies managed to keep themselves dealt in at the table. They managed to make themselves absolutely indispensable to the system, and reap a fair amount of dollars from the Fed, and the problem is that they're NOT going to be able to take as large a chunk of it home as they'd like. THAT is what this mess is about. Defending bonus structures. All the rest? All the hoopla and rhetoric is nothing more than trying to justify outrage that they can't rook the government for MOAR.

So, yeah, this tantrum is even less justified than most folks imagine. It is complaining that they got ice cream, but NOT the Super Double Plus Combo Sundae that they wanted, and how DARE folks keep them from getting THAT instead of the double cone that someone just handed them. With jimmies.

I think they're all busy jacking off to the news the tea party shut down the government.

2013-10-01 12:00:59 PM
While I certainly have no problem laying the blame for this on the Tea Party, I think it's also important to remember our liberal friends who sat out of the 2010 midterms in order to "send a message".  And that message is "George Carlin was wrong, so stop whining, get off your farking asses and vote in the midterms."

Jokes on you libby libs. The Tea Baggers prinicipled stance has stopped ObamaCare.

Well, until they fix the server overload. But STILL. Take THAT, libs!

A friend of mine on Facebook posted twice within a minute this morning.

In one post she lamented how Obama shut down the government with his lies.
In the next she asked for prayers for her husband's foot surgery, especially because things have been so hard since he lost his job.

Can we just ship all of those who voted in support of the government shutdown to africa?

Smoking GNU: How many of those 69% will continue to vote republican ANYWAY?

That's what blows my mind.

Some people will recognize that the GOP is in the middle of a destructive identity crisis that's sending harmful shockwaves out to the rest of the nation and world, and they still think that Democrats would be a worse choice - even if it's just for the time being.

"Yeah, the guy I want driving the bus is having seizures and a psychotic breakdown...but I just don't trust that other guy to do better. He might take an alternate route! I'll just be sure to wear my seatbelt."

I don't understand it.

Tea Qaeda loves to yap about how "unpopular" the Affordable Care Act is, but Americans disapprove of GOP congressmen by 74% - 17%. How about the Dems threaten to shut down the government until the wildly unpopular GOP congressmen resign?

Elections have consequences. This is what the GOP continuously reminded us during Dubya's tenure.

Well boys, the chickens have come home to roost. Now accept the consequences of the last TWO elections and get over it. You lost.

A fringe element within the minority party is holding hostage the Federal Government's ability to function because they want to repeal legislation which was duly passed by elected representatives (and that has passed the scrutiny of the Supreme Court), and still half the population thinks it's the President's fault?!?

We look like such monumental asses to the world right now.
